2.0 out of 5 stars Not healthy. Save your money. October 7, 2011
By M. Wise
This bucket is probably most famous for being hawked by the president of the manufacturer on a famous televangelist show...let's called in the "Bim Jakker" show. Yes, THAT "Bim Jakker." Think about that for a while.

Each "meal" in this bucket averages just 130 calories each. Keep in mind a normal healthy adult male should not consume less than 2000 calories per day. If you used this as purported "275 meal" bucket as a 30-day supply of food for one adult male, you would get just 1200 calories a day while consuming over 4500mg of salt. Ouch! If you actually want to not waste away and instead get at least 2000 calories every day, this bucket barely lasts over two weeks. And at that point, you are now getting nearly 8000mg of sodium each and every day. Double ouch!

I will grant that this is better than having absolutely nothing (and that's why I gave it two stars instead of one), but storing up canned beans, rice and spam would actually be healthier than this (and cheaper).

5.0 out of 5 stars Why wait? June 25, 2011

I hope to never have to use this product, but like to have emergency supplies around just in case. I especially like that the meals are individually wrapped so that I don't have to eat 25 pounds of one meal in a short period of time. Additionally, the storage bags and bucket have multiple uses in a survival situation as well. This is a well designed product. My only hope is that we see a larger variety of flavors in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Takes 25-28 Minutes to Cook Each Packet! July 5, 2011
By Info4U
The bucket is packed really full! I took everything out since they seem to be grouped together, and now I'm having trouble fitting them back in. I am disappointed that it takes so long to prepare each packet. Got this for camping thinking it would be cheaper than a bunch of Mountain House pouches, but the cooking time kinda makes it worthless for this purpose. So far we've tried the tuscan noodles, veggie rice, and potato soup. On the negative side, they are all about the same color - an artificially yellowish color. On the positive, they are all pretty tasty (kinda like lipton or korr noodles or rice from the store). The potato soup is thick and tasty even made with water. And they are surprisingly filling. Looking at each packet you wouldn't think that there are 5 servings, but once hydrated it's 5 servings and they are so filling that you don't need to add anything. Don't think it would be good for an emergency b/c of the cooking time, since most emergencies come with power outages.

It would only do if you were very hungry. Poor taste. And looks as bad as it tastes. But the price is right.
