Emergency procedures for the small business and shop : a guide and disaster plan framework [Paperback]

Book Description

1995
Dear Small Business Owner: Any disaster will do, say a fire strikes. Everybody panics and they all run from the building. Is anyone missing? God! I need my records! Where's my ledger? Did anyone call 911? Yes, you can handle it.

Maybe it's an earthquake. Maybe you are caught in the rubble. Are they still going to run? All the questions just asked are still unanswered, but you are under the rubble. Who does it now? And we haven't yet considered a law suit against you because someone got hurt or worse. Maybe the court will hold you negligent. Well, you didn't have a Plan, did you? You know, one of those things which proves you aren't negligent?

We haven't yet mentioned a tornado, a hurricane, a flood, or maybe a toxic spill, or, better, write in your own disaster. They all need a plan.

This is a framework for a disaster plan which the Law says you don't need. BUT, if there is a disaster, you are legally responsible if you don't have one. Having one shows that you made an effort to protect people. Get it? Besides, that disaster is a threat to your business, too. Better now to also have a recovery plan in case Mother Nature splatters your facilities and people all over the countryside.

You need a plan.

Our other books were written with individuals in mind and you may want them also. People need survival plans, too. Be sure your employees are prepared, they have an important place in your business. Of course, you have an emergency pack: survival foods and water for at least three days, you will need one in the car, too, and your family is trained to take appropriate action? It's in the books.

From the Author

Here comes winter and they say we will be faced with higher fuel prices or possible fuel shortages, maybe even power blackouts. You may have to deal with this as an emergency situation, possibly a disaster. That's what these books are for. They describe how to deal with power outages and extreme cold weather. They also have procedures for evacuation, and some of you may be facing that, too. The situation is no better for a small school or a business, just different. Keeping warm and conserving body heat is a no-option necessity. Be sure you know how and be prepared. All of the books in the Emergency Procedures Series offer procedures and tell why. If you have a woodstove backup heat source, all of the information about wood, wood heating, and wood burning is available in ISBN: 093965623X , including woodstove safety. ISBN 0939656353 tells you how to keep the food coming for your family when nothing in your kitchen is still working or when you no longer have a kitchen. These books weren't written by a bureaucrat, they have all come from experience and that makes the difference.
