From Library Journal
According to the authors, a married, theologian/psychologist team, the ministry of the American Catholic Church must respond to a newly emerging vision of the Christian community. That is, it must begin to acknowledge and use the charisma of all individuals, clerical and lay, ordained or not, to meet the needs of the Church here and now. The authors support their challenge by offering historical evidence of evolving patterns and images of leadership, power, and authority dating from Jesus's time. They also present reflective exercises and annotated bibliographies at the end of each chapter to help readers internalize their message. Intelligent, accessible, and stimulating; exceptionally valuable for prayerful pastoral and lay leaders. Nancy M. Laskowski, Free Lib. of Philadelphia
