5.0 out of 5 stars All-Clad for 1/3 the price
These pans are branded All-Clad pans (look at the bottoms). They cook evenly with no hot-spots. Even a novice cook like myself gets MUCH better results than with a cheap low quality pan.

I've had the 10 piece set for two years. They hold up great!

5.0 out of 5 stars serious non-stick, January 7, 2010
This review is from: Emeril by All-Clad E920SA64 Hard Anodized Nonstick with Pouring Spouts Scratch Resistant 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black (Kitchen)
I received this 10-piece set as a Christmas gift, so I have only been using them for a couple weeks. I was just looking for a couple select pots/pans for Christmas, but you can't beat the price of the whole set. Initially, I loved the fact that the two small sauce pots have pour spouts and built-in strainers in the lids. Also, I'm a fan of hard-anodized cookware.

The set stores nicely - I stack the pots together, starting with the 3-quart saute pan, and the frying pans together. The lids I have to store by themselves.

Keep in mind that these are non-stick pans, and you can not use metal utensils with them. The inner surface seemed like it would scratch easily, but it's pretty durable. At first I wasn't sure how they would hold up to high heat, or even cooking, since they are thinner than my Calphalon hard-anodized pans, but they do a great job. Clean-up is a cinch - nothing sticks! I even made apples with caramel sauce, and the caramelized, sugary syrup cleaned up ever-too-easily. Which leads to another thing - if you are looking to create "browned bits" on the bottom of your pans, which I love for creating sauces, don't look to these pans - seriously, nothing sticks! They definitely are great at what they are - non-stick!

The only downside I have found so far, which is old news to me, is that the metal handles do not stay cool. The frying pan and sauce pots have long handles, which tend to stay cooler towards the end, but watch out when you go to lift a lid.

If you're looking for a nice, non-stick, durable quality cookware set, I recommend these pans. They're great for the value, and come with a life-time warranty.

UPDATE (SEPT 4, 2011):

I've now owned this set for 2 years come this Dec, and they are holding up great :) Plus, I love the ease of draining pasta without having to dirty a separate colander!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for the first four or five years!, February 27, 2011

The company was great about sending us new ones. But now it is four or five years later and those same pieces (the ones we use the most) are breaking down again. We are very careful in how we handle this cookware; there are no scratches in the finish and we only handwash them. It just seems like they have a limited lifespan. Now we're debating whether to try and get them replaced again or purchase something else.

We think this set is a great value. The anodized aluminum gives a good non-stick surface with a light weight. The handles are ergonomic. The pouring spouts on the sauce pans are a nice touch, along with the straining lids. The glass lids work great and you can see what's cooking.

We use our cookware heavily and are hard on it. Any non-stick surface will eventually wear under this kind of use. Still our last set lasted many years. At this price we felt it was a great value for the quality of the set and the number of years of use.

I'm not sure if these are still manufactured by All Clad. They are definitely in the All Clad style and high quality. Price an All Clad set for reference and you'll find this set is bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars These aren't copper core All-Clad, but odds are if you're reading this review you either know that or don't need it., November 6, 2011
This review is from: Emeril by All-Clad E920SA64 Hard Anodized Nonstick with Pouring Spouts Scratch Resistant 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black (Kitchen)
I've spent a large part of my life working in food. My father also worked in this industry; I grew up picky about my tools. I have a few high end All-Clad pieces for what you actually need high end All-Clad for, and these aren't even in the same leauge. That said, you don't need high end All-Clad for very many things, and most people won't ever even attempt those things in their home kitchens. If you're going to regularly make real bouillabaisse or something else out of Escoffier's book that takes several days --buy All-Clad. If instead you aren't a masochist, or even if you only go insane a couple times a year --buy these instead. I've had a set since they first launched. I went all the way through school on my first set, and while I'm anal about my gear, these are still in great shape.

Pros:
The price is unmatched for what you are getting. There isn't a way around that. These are the Lotus of pans. Of course there are TWR pans, but they cost enough that I've never seen a real resturant with them anywhere but at a display cooking station.

The coating will last for years if you take care of it. You still can't put metal in the pans, and you'd better keep them out of the dishwasher.

Really easy to clean by hand. DON'T EVER use a dishwasher for pans, even if a manufacturer tells you that you can.

The stay cool handles really do stay cool. Don't pull them out of the oven without a towel, but all you need is a dry towel (DRY is important BTW! A damp towel will steam and hurt you)

Sturdy. Everyone drops things, and it's nice when you don't break your pans.

Pretty even heat.

Tempered glass lids are pretty sturdy. (Though from looking at the image another user posted not without the possiblility of defects.)

This particular 10 piece set I bought my Father-In law. It's got most of what you need for day-to-day. It needs a large multipot, but there isn't any way a decent $200 MSRP set will some with a mulitpot.

Cons:
The handles on the last revision were better. They fit my hands better at least.

Glass lids are great when you need to see the food, but I want steel lids too.

Cons about the line, but not this set:

It's high time All-Clad made a nonstick annodized aluminum Emerilware set with a raw aluminum bottom and a copper transfer plate. I'd pay $300 for a set like that, and wouldn't even look back. They already do this with the stainless Emerilware line (I have a full set of that too.)

No multipot or pasta pot is sold for the nonstick annodized aluminum line anymore. (It was a great piece.)

In short:
If this is at the edge of your budget or even a little over for a 10 piece set: you've found what you were looking for.
If this is under your budget: get the rest of the line!
If you actually need to spend $3,000 or more on your 10 piece set: you already know this isn't what you're looking for.
If you have too much time, and money burning a hole in your pocket: go to the nearest kitchen boutique and they will glady wait on you hand and foot to part you from your money. Still, before you go...I have a cousin who is a prince in Nigeria...

These pots and pans are great...very light, nicely coated so food are not sticking to it, and easy to wash. The only bad thing that I notice is that the bottom of the pans/pots are easily scratched and the outside is easily stained. That's why I didn't give it a 5 star. I would recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Emeril Cookware Fan, March 27, 2011

This review is from: Emeril by All-Clad E920SA64 Hard Anodized Nonstick with Pouring Spouts Scratch Resistant 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black (Kitchen)
Let me start by saying I am a fan of Emeril cookware, but only 3 product lines. I test a lot of cookware for a cookware review site. I do like the Pro-Clad, Hard Anodized, and Hard Enamel cookware lines. These are the ones with the most All-Clad influence. Emeril has added several key convenience features to the products like the easy-pour lips and spouts, handles, and lids. The Hard Anodized set is usually a great bargain, but be aware it cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher. If you want dishwasher or induction ready cookware, then go with the Pro-Clad stainless steel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pan set for the kitchen, June 20, 2010

This review is from: Emeril by All-Clad E920SA64 Hard Anodized Nonstick with Pouring Spouts Scratch Resistant 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black (Kitchen)
I wanted a two quart and three quart GOOD set of pans, and you can't buy the two quart as an individual piece (in Emeril cookware). The pieces are heavy duty, and they are well made. I have an older Emeril hard anodized pan, and it held up very well. There is one NEGATIVE: the handles on the lids on the glass tops for the new pans are metal, and they get hot enough to burn you. My older pan had plastic handles, and it didn't get hot. I solved that problem by putting a foam on the metal handle and then wrapping it in electrical tape. Yes, it's not as attractive, but my wife's hands don't get burned now. I agree with the other critics who say you pay more for this product but you get a better quality set of units. Remember, these pans will not last forever as they have the nonstick surfaces which break down after a while (faster if you cook on high a lot. Yeh, I know stainless steel is longer lasting, but it is a pain to clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent cookware!, March 24, 2011

This is the most expensive set of cookware I have ever bought and well worth the money! I have tried to treat it kindly (as I have always done with my cookware), bit I don't treat it like it's made of crepe paper either! I LOVE these pans! I bought this set about six months ago and my only complaint is that the handles on the lids do get hot pretty quickly, but that's what they make pot holders for. I have not had ANYTHING stick to them, not even cheese! In fact, just today my other half put some eggs in to boil in the large saucepan and forgot about them. They boiled dry, started to explode, and left scorch marks in the bottom! I dumped the eggs in the trash and washed the pan with hot soapy water and a rag. There is not a mark on it, no smell, and the nonstick surface looks as good as new! I highly recommend this set of cookware!

4.0 out of 5 stars Emeril non stick cookware is a good buy, August 10, 2010

This review is from: Emeril by All-Clad E920SA64 Hard Anodized Nonstick with Pouring Spouts Scratch Resistant 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black (Kitchen)
I researched independent opinions and reviews online before making this decision. Excellent value for money considering the performance. I cook different types of cuisine almost everyday and these items are a month old and have gottten a lot of use. The insides clean easily and they are light enough to manage while sturdy enough for hefty stews and curries, as well as standard fare. The lids are clear glass which you can't see in the picture. I wish a couple things were different. All the handles are single long "saucepan" handles. I wish there were regular handles on both sides of the pots to enable easier lifting as well as easier storage in kitchen cupboards. The long handles are a little awkward. I would also like to get a couple bigger pots eg 6 to 8 quart with covers but will look for pots with regular handles in this size.
Great non stick performance and well made items.
