It works as advertised. Very long probe with a protective removal cover. Makes it possible to use on the grill without getting your hand over direct heat. The display for the meat type and the "done-ness" could be a bit bigger as it is hard to read, but it is ok as long as you don't need to change it a whole lot.
Overall very happy with it for grilling.

After using this enough for the battery to die, I was very pleasantly surprised that this uses a AA batter rather than an expensive (and not kept on hand) Li-Ion battery. Very big plus for me!

This temp probe did the job until the battery died without warning in the middle of a grilling session. The original Chinese brand AA battery slid out of its compartment but any U.S. brand AA batteries (and I tried 3 different manufacturers) would not fit into the slot. I measured the U.S. batteries and they were all slightly bigger diameter than the Chinese battery. If you try to force a US battery in the slot you can easily rip the wires (which I did) which also go through the battery slot. Maybe I got the only probe with this problem but I doubt it and it sure looks like a poor design.

When I called customer service they told me the unit takes a AA battery. Duh! Really? When I told them about the battery size difference they said to ship them the unit (at my expense of course) and they would look at it with no guaranty of any repair or exchange. Customer service like this is totally useless.

I recommend buying a different temp probe or at least know that when battery fails you may have a throwaway unit.

Large display, long sensing probe, back lit display. Thermometer has a button for rare, med and well done is a nice feature.
