Looking for a good set of pots and pans?,
By Barbara Miller "Cottage Queen" (Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emeril Hard Anodized 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I have been a chef in the restaurant business. I can tell you that what we use in the business are not Emeril or Wolfgang Puck. We used commercial pots and pans which were unattractive but highly functional and made to withstand high heat and abuse. At home I have a set of Emeril cookware and a set of Wolfgang Puck cookware that were given as gifts and I love them both. I read the reviews that some people who call themselves gourmet cooks write about them.... that food is always sticking, the lid handles get hot and they develop stains! Really! First of all...the food doesn't stick if you learn how to use the pots and pans! If you can't get the hang of it you should go to a te-fal set. The lids WILL get hot, that's what hot pads are for! They will develop stains... you cook in them. If you want to display them to your company, that is what cleaners are for. Personally, I live to cook, I don't live for my cookware and even feel that a worn out pan is the sign of a good chef. I also own all-clad and calphalon pieces. Unless you are rich and just have to have them... why? I never have food stick to either set, you just have to know and pay attention to what you are doing. Emeril and Wolfgang Puck sets are designed with the home cook in mind. They are well constructed, heat evenly and I have even had the fry and saute pans in the oven to better than 400 degrees without a problem, they saute, de-glaze and clean up like a breeze... what else could you ask for? Emeril cookware is made by the all-clad company and I can tell you I wouldn't trade mine for another set...why? They have lasted me forever, I have never had a problem with either set and if all you are going to be doing is some "gourmet cooking" at home, you can't beat these two sets! In comparison to my all-clad... of course the all-clad is top of the line in construction, but so is the price! I really can't say that the food turns out any better... it just feels better in a very expensive all-clad pan! I would highly recommend either of these sets to any home "gourmet cook"! And... if you can learn to cook without the non-stick finish which is healthier for you anyway, you will never have to replace your cookware, ever!

Emeril's extras make cooking more enjoyable,
By Bookworm Girl (Phoenix, AZ USA) - See all my reviews

This cookware is easy to use and even easier to clean. It's also stylish enough for display. It is manufactured by All-Clad which is one of the top companies for quality and performance. I especially like the extras that Emeril added to his signature line. The thumb indentations on the handles make the pans easy to lift. The lip around the edges allow easy pouring without spilling down the side. The glass-lids make it easy to see how your food is cooking without having to open the lid and let heat escape. The second handle on the saute pan was a nice surprise. The outside coating is scratch-resistant. The set is light-weight, and the handles stay fairly cool. I am not a gourmet cook, although I would like to expand my skills using this set. I am your average, everyday cook - a working wife who prefers no-fuss meals after a long day at work. So far I have used my set for stir-fry, pan-fry, eggs and pancakes. I can report consistent browning all-over and no burnt-on mess to clean-up. Even my husband noticed how much better my cooking tastes now!

Okay but, not great,

Emerilware Hard Anadized non-stick is attractive and seems fairly durable. Browning is similar to any non stick pan. You won't get as nice a sear with non-stick as you would with a metal surface. I have many pieces of the discontinued Calphalon Commercial (both anodized and non-stick) which I think is 5 stars. By comparison, Emerilware is less expensive and lighter. My reason for only 3 stars is the handle. If you are not careful, the first time you use them you can get a rude awakening. The heat travels about half way up the handles. This occured while cooking eggs over low heat. I would hate to have grabbed it unawares if I was doing a sear. Not the case for the Calphalon "Cool-V" handles. But for the handles, I'd give it 4 stars.

I received my cookware last week - it is beautiful and so far it is wonderful for cooking. I browned some chicken in the skillet last night, no oil, no butter, no spray, and - no stick - it was so easy. I was a bit worried because I don't like to hand wash but it cleans very easily. This cookware will look fantastic on a pot rack, so I will be getting one soon.

great pots, lousy lids,
By Cookie Cutter (San Francisco) - See all my reviews

I cook all the time, and these pots are great with the exception of the lids. The pots are truly non-stick and easy to clean. However, the lids have a seam between the glass and the metal frame. Whenever you take the lid off a steaming pot, the condensation drips through the seam and makes a mess. Even worse, food gets stuck in the seam and you cannot clean it. I regret the purchase.

They're still going strong!,

It's been a few years now since buying this set and they still work like the day we got them! The coating is still perfect, none of the handles are falling off, the lids are still perfect after being dropped on several occasions. For the money, this is a great starter set for both those new to cooking and those who love to cook but need a set that's more economical! You can't go wrong with buying this set!

It may be odd , but the handles seem weight matched to the rest of the cookware. I am pleased with the purchase. I found that my sister has a set like it only she preferred stainless.

Nonstick Coating Wears Off, Company Blames Customer, Voids Warranty,
This review is from: Emeril Hard Anodized 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I was really happy with this cooking set for a good number of years. So happy, in fact, that the 12" Fry Pan became my favorite cooking pan. As a result the non-stick wore off under the normal course of its lifetime.
I was able to get an RMA for the pan, but it was returned to me with a letter stating that the browning on the pan indicates that it was subjected to overheat and as a result, the pan will not be replaced. Problem is, there is no browning on the pan, and I've never overheated that pan. It runs at one temp and one temp only on my range and never empty. Do NOT buy this set if you expect, as I did, that the company will stand behind their product. In fact, I'd stay away from Emerilware, T-Fal, All-Clad and Cephalon as the letter sent to me indicates that they are all the same, extremely non-customer focused, company.

We have been using Analon Professional for years supplemented with some specialty pans. I bought one of the Emeril non stick pans to replace our worn Analon and fell in love with it. It truly needs no oil or better to saute something or cook scrambled eggs. When I saw this set on sale, I bought it and packed up the analon. I love how simple it is to clean! As previously reviewed, the lids are not super tight fitting but I can live with it. :-)
