5.0 out of 5 stars Good pan for the money!
I've heard some complain that their nonstick surface did not last as long as they would have liked, or that it actually became sticky. Those reading should know that you should only use a nonstick pan for cooking things that require it, like; omlettes, eggs, pancakes, etc. For sautés and normal cooking, you should have another regular (i.e. not a nonstick type)...

I've heard some complain that their nonstick surface did not last as long as they would have liked, or that it actually became sticky. Those reading should know that you should only use a nonstick pan for cooking things that require it, like; omlettes, eggs, pancakes, etc. For sautés and normal cooking, you should have another regular (i.e. not a nonstick type) pan. This will ensure that your nonstick pan will last a very long time because you will not be prematurely wearing it down by using it for cooking it was not made for. Sautés cook much better on a regular pan anyway. You should only use plastic or wood utensils on it, never metal. Also, nonstick pans are NOT dishwasher safe! Dishwashers will damage the nonstick surface! Wash your nonstick with a soft sponge and soapy water only.

This pan is a good bargain in that it peforms and is priced well. It has the same dimensions as the All Clad branded pan, with a slightly different handle. I actually like the handle on this pan better than on the All Clad branded pan. The Emerilware handle feels more ergonomic and the pan is indeed well balanced-no problem at all.

The main difference between this pan and the double cost All Clad pan is that the Emerilware nonstick pan does not use a stainless steel shell with aluminium core. Instead, it uses an anodized aluminium throughout, which works very well as a heat conductor, but has a shell that is probably not as durable.

I ended up with this pan (after a lot of research) because I feel that nonstick surfaces don't last forever anyway and I like getting a good value. This pan is a much better deal than the All Clad branded pan, at less than half the cost, yet equal the performance in practice.

With this Emerilware pan, you are paying less because it does not use the the layered stainless steel and aluminium design, which requires more labor to produce as well as more metel and materials.

Another good brand is Calphalon, which are anodized aluminium just like the Emerilware is, however I feel like the Emerilware pan has a better nonstick surface than Calphalon.

Of course the choice is yours. If you want the best and don't mind spending the extra money for a status symbol type product, the All Clad would be tops. If however you are like me and want nearly identical performance at a cheaper cost and the same lifetime warranty, the less expensive Emerilware pan would be a better match. I feel good every time I use this pan because I know how little I paid for it, yet the perfmance and build is great. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

With regards to stainless steel pans (ie. pans that are not nonstick type), I would go with All Clad brand over Emerilware. The Emerilware stainless steel line only has a copper heat conducting layer on the bottom of the pan, whereas the All Clad has the aluminium cladding throughout the pan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Misbalanced handle makes pan tip and is dangerous!!, November 29, 2001

This lower cost Emeril line made by All-Clad is high quality (All-Clad is generally regarded as the best commercially available cookware) - and I have enjoyed using this pan, HOWEVER, the handle is too big and too heavy for this pan, and as a result it causes the pan to tip and lift off the burner grate toward the handle (even when it is centered on the grate). This pan's inherent tendency to tip makes it downright dangerous. I bought this pan for($) instead coughing up the extra money for the Calphalon commercial nonstick or one of the All-Clad nonstick fry pans and it was a mistake. The only good thing about the pan is that it served to be my entree into finer cookware - I've since become an addict and have purchased several Calphalon and All-Clad pieces, including the Calphalon 10-inch Commercial nonstick fry pan which I highly recommend instead of this Emeril pan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bargain All-Clad frying pan, February 8, 2002

I almost didn't buy this frying pan because of a review that is quite misleading, saying something about a "heavy" handle and tipping. The price was so good, though, that I went ahead. I'm glad I did. This is a top-notch All-Clad frying pan. I bought it to replace a similar Calphalon frying pan that the nonstick coating had started to show signs of wear. The handle on this is no heavier than the Calphalon pan or other All-Clad (non-Emerilware) frying pans. For everyday cooking, this is a high-class product without the high-class price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emerilware Frypan is a Winner, January 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Emerilware Nonstick 10-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
The Emerilware 8- and 10-inch frypans are great for everyday cooking for items that would "stick" to stainless pans: omelettes, scrambled eggs, browning meats, etc. I especially like the even distribution of heat and the very good heat retention of both these pans.

Other reviewers complained about "tilting" Emerilware frypans---I've NEVER observed this problem with mine. I would suggest such a pan is "defective" and should be returned. Cleanup for the Emerilware is effortless. I nest my pans between cloth dishtowels for storage, to protect them from scratching each other.

I would definitely recommend Emirilware for both performance and extremely good value.

2.0 out of 5 stars From NON STICK to STICKY, October 3, 2002

Though this pan seems well designed, ..., this pan has become the stickiest! When simply making scrambled eggs the entire pan becomes covered with a thin layer of egg, that after the pan cools is very hard to remove. I have used oil on the pan prior to putting the eggs in, but the same thing happens. ...

I got this 10" Emerilware pan with a little trepidation since "Famous name" stuff can sometime be of questionable quality. I was presently surprised with the excellent quality of this pan. It is made by All Clad and you can tell right away that they did not skimp on this one. It is a heavy pan with a great handle and balance. It has industrial rivets and is clearly a great value. The non-stick works great as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pan! Use it every day!, October 8, 2003

This review is from: Emerilware Nonstick 10-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I have All Clad pans and Calphalon Commercial and one (so far) Emerilware pan - this 10" saute pan. It is solid anodized aluminum (with a nonstick interior) and it seems to heat more evenly than pans which sandwich aluminum between layers of stainless steel. I like the hefty weight of the pan, but it is well balanced and easy to hold. The handle is very comfortable to hold and remains cool to the touch. The lip of the pan is better than many for pouring, but not excellent, however I am seldom pouring liquids from a saute pan anyway. I will definitely be purchasing more Emerilware!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Finally, a pan that the teflon doesn't flake off!, February 16, 2005

This review is from: Emerilware Nonstick 10-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
After searching for some good pans, I wound up with this one and boy, am I glad that I did! Don't EVER buy Cook's Essentials on QVC - they're horrible! Had to toss those things after TWO months from the flaking teflon. This Emeril pan is just the right match for my household. Nothing burns because it has all the right "stuff" in the middle, and nothing sticks. It's just fantastic - I baby these pans too. They're not made for the dishwasher and so therefore, greater care is required. I plan on using these for a very long time!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, January 23, 2005

I bought this pan a few months ago after picking up an All-Clad 8" stainless steel pan. This pan had so so ratings but I decided to go with my gut and purchased it. This pan has been flawless. I love cooking my breakfast, lunch and dinner with this pan. It is like I said, amazing. I'm looking forward to purchasing the 12" pan to make a complete set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing sticks!, November 18, 2003
This review is from: Emerilware Nonstick 10-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
I LOVE this pan! I've made everything from jambalaya to omelettes in this pan, and I can attest to the fact that it is the best frying pan I've ever used. Never in my life have I made an omelette without making a mess, but in this pan I can cook like a pro! The omelette flips over & slides right out with NO breakage. Bacon, frozen hashbrowns, pancakes (can you tell I like breakfast?) all cook evenly & quickly. Buy this pan if you want no mess, no fuss food preparation! One thing though: I'm not a big person, and the slim handle combines with the weight of the large pan makes it a little unwieldy. It's worth it though; it's so solid it never slides around the stovetop unless YOU slide it!
