Excellent piece of cookware,

This review is from: Emerilware Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
Let me start by saying this is a great price for a piece of Emerilware--I bought it as a "tester" piece to see if I really wanted to spend $400 on the 10-piece set. And after using this small pan for a few weeks, I know I do.I don't fully agree with the other opinion that states the handle is top heavy, causing the base to lift off the stove (I think that's what was said--sorry if I misphrased). I think it's just a matter of the handle being somewhat longer, which makes it a bit uneven feeling. However, that said, I have had no problems cooking with it. (In about 20 uses, the pan has not tipped over once!!) If you're worried about it, I think you may just want to be careful not to leave the handle of the piece hanging out over the edge of the stove where you might bump it. One other note: after having used other non-stick cookware and being used to using "Pam" style sprays to cook with, it has been a hard habit to break with the Emerilware pan. It is stated clearly in the instructions that you should NEVER use aerosol sprays because it can gunk up on the pans and is extremely difficult to clean. With these non-stick pans, you really don't need any coating, and when you feel you do, a bit of olive oil or butter works wonders. I can't wait to get the full set!!

I've been using this pan for nearly a year and love it. The fact that it's non-stick goes without saying. It's the perfect size for a 2-egg omelette. The slope sided design makes hand flipping of saute'd mushrooms, onions, etc. a breeze. The pan and the handle are definately not unbalanced, and the handle is very ergonomic. The hard-anodized aluminum exterior still looks almost new. There is absolutely no sign of wear on the interior. Overall, it has a solid hefty feel that makes it an absolute pleasure to cook with.

I bought this pan as a replacement for my old t-fal pan. It is now my most used fry pan! It has a very nice "heft" and is nicely balanced. It heats evenly, and is very easy to clean. I use it to cook eggs a lot, and love it. Someone mentioned not using cooking spray, as this would probably ruin it. I usually use olive oil (in a Misto sprayer), which works very well.

Emerilware 8 " Fry Pan: Good buy / Great quality / Love it!,

Emerilware 8" nonstick frypan delivers what it promises. I love the way it fits in your hand and the security of the thumb depression. The weight gives very even heat and gives you the feeling of quality materials. The nonstick surface is durable, cooks accurately and is the easiest cleanup of any I have used. I also have the 10" which I love and I hope to eventually own a whole set.

Handle too heavy,

A high quality fry pan, but the handle is too big and too heavy for the small size of the pan, causing the pan to lift off the electric grate opposite the handle. Otherwise, it seems very durable and of high quality.

Works as advertised for a reasonable price.,

Probably the easiest piece of cookware I own. The pan itself evenly, but the handle stays cool longer. Cleanup was a snap - just a regular sponge handled it. And the food just glides right off the pan.

Not Good Enough,
This review is from: Emerilware Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan (Kitchen)
If you've never used anything like Anolon, All-Clad, or Calphalon, you might love Emerilware.
I purchased an Anolon Advanced skillet last month and Emerlware and Calphalon Contemporary this month. All are 8-inch skillets and I put them all to the test with eggs and chicken. I'd like to buy a set of cookware and I wanted to find out which of these three would be a wise choice. Emerilware did a fine job with chicken, as did the others. All turned out chicken that was nicely browned, tender and juicy. Eggs were a different matter. I cooked three frittatas exactly the same way. Emerilware has a thin bottom that is not very "forgiving," especially when compared to Anolon. Consequently, the frittata I cooked with Emerilware came out badly scorched compared to the others. Aside from that, however, the parts that were not as badly scorched had a nice texture. Others have reported that the handle stays cool. Perhaps my electric stove, small burner, is unususal, because the handle on the Emerlware got dangerously hot! The hard anodized exterior started to discolor after just one use. Overall, I simply cannot recommend this skillet. I'm giving it two stars because it's not terrible; it's simply not good enough.

Nice pan, bad coating,

I bought these fry pans thinking that more expensive pans would outlive the cheap nonsticks I've purchased over the years. Despite being treated better (hand washed, plastic utensils) than any nonstick I've ever owned the coating has lasted a fraction of the time. When this pan was new it was a work of art. A year later it's garbage. I'm going back to the cheapee's.
