So after trying to use this shaver, and seeing reviews on people saying they hate this shaver, I decided to investigate what it is about this shaver that is the problem. Pulling the cover off, I investigated the parts, turned it on a couple of times, and even tried to use it on tissue paper to see the result. The paper was ripped, but not cut.

Then I started investigating the actual device's build, and have realized that the design of this razor is flawed to begin with. While most shavers sit within their circle, ready to cut, the Emerson Razor's (ahem) razors actually can be pushed down. As can the drivers themselves. So in actuality the harder you push down, the less likely the drivers and the blades themselves come close enough to your face. Trying it with no pressure on the shaver itself I found was little more effective than my usual shaver method of pressing against my face.

Don't get me wrong, it does cut hair, but it does it extremely poorly. It took near to 8 or 9 passes on one spot, and it was still not cut close at all -- I have a beard and mustache trimmer which cuts closer, and it's only meant to trim; not shave. If a trimmer gets better result than a razor, there's an issue with the razor for sure. After multiple attempts to shave with this device, the hair is a modicum shorter, but definitely doesn't look like I even made an effort to shave - not to mention uneven cuts, as there is no consistency.

I've since had to go back to my old shaver. As a product, the Emerson looks nice, it's got a sleek and professional looking package to it, and you can leave it charging on your nightstand without the LED lighting up the room and keeping you awake all hours of the night.

This pathetic excuse for a shaver was utterly unable to shave my face. I had not shaved in four days, and tried to use the clippers to get the hair short enough to shave off. The clippers were worthless, draining the battery before I could finish, and pulling rather than cutting. After a partial recharge, I tried the shaver on the part of my face I had half-trimmed. It sort of worked, but pulled a lot and didn't cut close. At least I only paid $10. Time to get out the screw driver and perform a sacrifice.

I paid very little for this (marked down to $9.99) at a nearby CVS. I got what I paid for.

On a positive note, I like the plug-in/ rechargeable feature. I much prefer this kind of operation to batteries.

Now, perhaps I have stubble of steal, but I just couldn't get anywhere near an acceptable shave with this unit.
However, since I tend to use electric razors as either "5 O'clock" shadow removers, or when in a hurry, I was mainly interested in the pop-up trimmer. Unfortunately, it barely worked at all. Trimming my moustache, which should take about 20 seconds, literally took 20 minutes with this device. Even then, I wasn't satisfied with the results. In fact, I noticed very few follicles either in the sink or near the blade.

In short, I'd only recommend this for light beard candidates, or as a toy.

I bought this to keep at the office for those few days when I had to leave home in a hurry without shaving. I charged the battery for the 12 hours recommended and looked forward to having this tool handy. Unfortunately, it couldn't handle a simple beard and rather than shave, seemed to be more effective at pulling the hair into the shaver and trying to pluck it out. Very painful and annoying. I tried charging it up again thinking that perhaps the battery was too new (?). Same thing next day, it kept getting stuck with my face in it, pinching and pulling. I threw it in the trash.

Got this product as a Christmas gift. Charged it overnight. Went to shave this morning. No matter how hard I pressed on my face, very few whiskers were getting clipped. It had been years since I had an electric razor and I was shocked that I could get one nowadays that simply doesn't do the job it is supposed to do. I sounds like a razor but doesn't actual do the shaving part.

You couldn't cut yourself with this shaver if you took off the protective cover and heavily and repeatedly, strike it across your skin. It will not shave one hair off your body. Shame on Emerson for making such an inefficient product.

I tried both Emerson shavers from CVS and neither one worked half decent. I tried making multiple passes in all directions and still noticed very little getting cut.

I wish I had researched the reviews for this so-called "shaver" before I purchased it from Walgreens. I needed a travel shaver for vacation and saw a few inexpensive shavers and narrowed it down to a Braun M90 coil shaver and this Emerson. Well, I chose the Emerson thinking that it had three heads and would shave more surface area than the straight edge Braun. The Emerson didn't cut a hair on my face (two day old stubble I might add) after my "shaving" for 5-10 minutes. This has to be the worst shaver in the world and Emerson should pull it off the market immediately or risk being sued for false advertising and fraud!! LOL

I could go on for hours about the poor quality of this shaver, take heed of the previous reviewers on Amazon and stay away from this product. I guess for 10 dollars, you get what you pay for; even though I have used some decent quality products for cheap, this is definitely not one of them.

PS. The reviews for the Braun Mobile shavers on Amazon are mostly positive ( 4 out of 5 stars). I will try the Braun after returning the Emerson and write a review on the Braun's performance at a later date.
