5.0 out of 5 stars great TV for the price!
I bought a few of these a few years ago when they were on sale at a local store and they are great in my experiences.

I don't know what the other reviewers are griping about because my friends use it all the time for gaming and never had a complaint about it... maybe you should check your video/screen ratio settings on your game system... it's not automatic...

dont break the remote. if you do you wont ever be able to use your dvd player or anything else with it. in order to watch dvd's or anything you have to get onto the video1 or video2 channel. you can only do this with the input button on the remote. ive bought multiple universal remotes and none of them worked. emerson has discontinued this model and they no longer stock this model's remote. they will send you to 1800-remotes. you will be quoted a price of about $35 plus tax and shipping. my price for TN came to roughly $42. so if you have kids that like to break remotes, a pet that chews on them, or youre prone to random fits of rage and like to take it out on your remotes then id suggest you steer clear of this tv.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pass this one up, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Emerson 20" Pure Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
I will break this review up into 3 parts for ease:

1.) Regular TV viewing: Maybe the best aspect of the TV, colors all look decent for the most part, decent clarity as well...overall 3/5

2.) DVD's/movies: Same as television, I also noted somtimes that really deep reds and greens have a strange flicker and it makes the picture look unpleasant. 3/5

3.) Video games: Worst part of TV. These annoying black borders cut off significant parts of the image (health bar/points) and when displaying more of the vivrant colors they flicker. 1.5/5

I am a bit of a audio/visualphile so I may be a little harsh, but I am very dissapointed with this TV on the whole. OK for regular TV viewing, but if you are a bit of a "tech-dude/chick" steer clear of this machine.

also I lost my remote and all 3 of the universal remotes I've got in my home work fine with it. And I buy the cheap as dirt universal remotes since I only need basic functions: power, channels, volume, & input selections.

Sound is good but not perfect clearly, but no specific complaints.

3.0 out of 5 stars I should have bought something else, December 7, 2011
This review is from: Emerson 20" Pure Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
I've bought this tv back in 2008 and it worked fine up until recently when I started turning the tv on, I have been getting these white lines on the top of the screen. They used to go away after the tv has been on awhile but now they are there all of the time except for when viewing widescreen programs. The remote problem was never an issue for me. I have been using a Universal Remote and that works fine. The gaming is fine too when I play. It's these annoying lines across the screen. I've looked up the problem online and there might be a problem with the Cathode Ray Tube. I don't know. I am not a technician. Anyway, now I have to try and find a better tv. I have dealt with Emerson products before and they weren't any good. This one is no exception.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent SDTV., December 4, 2011
This review is from: Emerson 20" Pure Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
This is a pretty good SDTV for a guest or kids room, or if you're just looking for a decent cheap TV.
I've had this TV for about 7-8 years and it has so far held up very good. Unfortunately I'm going to be buying a new HDTV to replace this one.

It has good picture quality, good sound quality, and is easy to set up(although heavy)
I have no clue about universal remotes working for it because I've taken good care of mine, but that could be a problem.

Also, if you're planning on buying this over an HDtv for gaming, I wouldn't recommend it. Because it is a SDtv, high-def games(which is basically EVERY new game being released now) will look rather bad, not to mention the text will be extremely small.

Overall, this TV is a good value and will definitely last a long time. The only thing wrong with mine is the power button on the TV itself is starting to become unresponsive. Other than that, it has done remarkably well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good little TV, October 1, 2011
This review is from: Emerson 20" Pure Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
I got one of these little TVs for my bedroom and it has worked great! I have it hooked up to my Direct TV and I programmed the Direct TV remote to work with it, no problem! This little TV has better definition than the one I had in there previously. Anyway I really like this TV and I also have my gaming rig hooked up and haven't had any issue with the borders? Could be an aspect ratio setting issue or something?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great standard definition TV, July 25, 2011

This review is from: Emerson 20" Pure Flat Screen TV (Electronics)
This TV has served me very well for watching cable and playing video games. I actually stuck it next to a new HDTV I had bought and preferred this TV's picture quality for my cable company's standard definition channels. It's easy to use, the picture is great, the sound is good; the only bad thing about it is it's big and heavy since it's not a flat-screen.
