This is an excellent product for people travelling to india since in US the format is NTSC and in india it PAL. It gives a great resolution where u can connect to the camcorder/VCR and watch ur favourite recordings rather than going in for conversion. I would certainly recommend for those who have NTSC format to watch on PAL System.

I used this device in Europe and it works indeed. Handy, light weight and inexpensive compared to $600 professional alternatives. Picture is of reasonable quality however somewhat jerky with some repeating noise. Sound is MONO only and not great (low volume). Comes strangely enough with only a US 115 Vac, 60 Hz, external AC to DC converter with US style plug. So a 50 Watt travel transformer (220 Vac to 115 Vac, approximate cost $13) is required for use in Europe. Considering the low price a worthwile buy for the frequent traveler to Europe. Technically: 3 stars

This is the converter you need if you plan to buy VCR's or Camcorders from US and use it to view on Indian or European TV's.This is the best price I could get for a NTSC (USA TV mode) to PAL B,G,D,I (India & Europe) converter. BTW, PAL stands for Phase Alternating Line & NTSC stands for National TV Standards Committee.

Can I use it to convert PAL to NTSC?

Very strange i cant find device from pal to ntsc in same price range. Ntsc to pal available. Why? and where i can find this.

I purchased a EVC1550 NTSC to PAL converter to record programs in USA to be viewed in Italy. I can't convert anything to PAL format at all. Anybody out there can help me? Thanks.Biava52588@aol.com.

I buyed this product with the help my friend in US. And it doesn't works for india PAL system. I wasted my 45 bugs.
It convert b/w picture to color from cam corder but it didn't stopeed vertical running of picture. So it's of no use for me. For india color system, it doesn't works. So I don't want rate it at all for india.

My boyfriend is a big Rugby fan from Wales and his parents send him tapes of matches from the UK. It costs a bomb to convert them to VHS. Are there any converters out there? I know there used to be a VCR that was dual format, but I can't find it anywhere.

Why NTSC to PAL aprox 50 u$s and PAL to NTSC 150 u$s (or more)?
