DVD portion kept skipping or getting stuck, now doesn't work at all. I did some searching on the Internet and this is a common problem with this brand. The warranty covers parts, but not labor so it's cheaper to buy a new one. Don't buy it!

Was vacationing in Florida and they had this unit in the condo. Fell in love with it and came home and purchased from Amazon. Had it in a couple of days. Great unit would highly recommend.

I'm not sure why this got such a bad review. I got this 2 years ago and I have to say that it deserves 4 stars. It saves ALOT of room because of the dvd/vcr combo. It's easy to use and had played any DVD/CD I have tried to play unlike other DVD players. The only thing I am disappointed about is that the VCR part went out about one year ago and no longer plays VHS tapes. This doesn't bug me much because I still get great use out of it and I think it was a great deal anyway.

I should add that I have moved this DVD player around SOOO much and I'm sure it's been knocked and dropped more than a few times. I also love to put in a DVD and then leave it running (because I fall asleep or leave the room) and the DVD player still works great after years of abuse and neglect! (haha)

I don't think it has EVER skipped unless it was the DVD itself.

I highly recommend this DVD/VCR combo, especially in a childrens room.

I just happened to be looking for a universal remote for this DVD/VCR and our TV. Even though I didn't buy mine from Amazon I thought I would put my "two-cent" review in! I bought mine from Wal-Mart so many years ago I can't even remember how old it is; probably around 10 or 15 years old and it still works pretty darn good. I've had the DVD player to mess up while playing a movie or two but I think it was probably the DVD itself because everything else I play is just fine; and the VHS player is still working just fine. I still have tons of VHS tapes. I would love to convert my tapes but I just don't have the time to do that, besides I don't have the time to look at them all anyway. As long as I have this combo and it keeps working, I'm happy. Anyway, I thought I needed a new remote for it because I was having trouble selecting things on the menu. I changed the batteries but that didn't help... but then I noticed there was a pretty thick layer of dust on top of the DVD/VCR so once I got the dust off, the remote seems to be working just fine. So if you ever have problems with your remote, just get the dust off of it! I'll be keeping my combo until it dies!

Have had this combo for 15 years and it has finally been laid to rest. Excellent product and worth the price. I totally recommend it
