5.0 out of 5 stars What a pleasant surprise
I thought I owned the best wine bottle opener in the world in my little double screw wooden gem I also own of those gas powered wine openers. It works well but taking the cork off can be a mean trick. Plus the loud "pop" sounds like a bottle of champagne. Then I received this electric wine opener as a gift. 1.0 out of 5 stars Will only open expensive wine with proper corks
I have tried this on my usual wines costing less than $15.00. They have a cork made of plastic. The opener says in the directions that I must use a hand opener if the cork is not real cork.

The only reason I kept it was because I have one of the Wine Saver bottle sealers and they looked a lot alike. I put it on the shelf and did not ever plan to use it. I mean, it was just a corkscrew in a tube. I had as friend over on Valentine's Day and she wanted to see it work. W O W! It was the slickest thing i EVER USED. I mean, it not only took the cork out with a minimum of noise, but it extracted the rock with another push of the button. No loud POOP like the gas unit, and no cork in the bottle. (I know because I opened several of wine just to see it fail. It never did. I have now ordered my customary spare because this one will get a lot of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick and Easy, November 16, 2008

A "Consumer Reports" favorable rating convinced me to buy the product. Not disappointed. It takes about ten(10) seconds to uncork a wine bottle. Simply amazing. No one using a conventional method is that quick. The opener has a beautiful black matte finish and looks handsome in the kitchen. Also comes with a foil cutter discreetly hidden in the charging stand. A great wine opener you will not regret purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars did what we could not, January 24, 2008
This review is from: Emerson Electric Wine Bottle Opener - Black
Got "Vampire Wine" as an anniversary present a few years ago and since I dislike my husband it has just sat here undrank. But after getting 5 colds this winter I decided to start doing the red wine glass a night. Well I wanted to but NO ONE could get the cork out of this wine. We spent hours and got nowhere.
So I bought this Emerson Opener and although it made me insane to wait 16 hours for it's initial charging, it popped that evil cork immediately on it's first try.
I do recommend this product and it would be a great gift for senior wine drinkers as it is SO easy to use. Sit it on top of the bottle and push the button. That's it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic wine opener, November 13, 2008
This review is from: Emerson Electric Wine Bottle Opener - Black
I open literally hundreds of bottles of wine as the person who supports wine parties in several non-profit support organizations. I've gone through many types of wine openers in the past 5 years. This is the greatest! How come it took so long to get on the market? One of these also solved the opener problem at our theater intermission bar which is staffed with elderly personnel who didn't have the strength for many of the other types of openers.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love This Electric Toy That Actually Works!, September 5, 2010
This review is from: Emerson Electric Wine Bottle Opener - Black
We are frequent wine drinkers and open about three bottles of wine a week. We received this wine opener from our daughter for Christmas 2009. We figured it was an inexpensive gift since our daughter does not have much money and we did not expect this wine opener to survive the workout that we would be putting it through weekly. Nine months later, it has survived like the little energizer bunny and keeps on spinning one wine cork after another. I hope it never dies, but if it should, the $20 my daughter spent for this gift has paid off well!

We still own a wide variety of wine openers and they are currently sitting by the wayside collecting dust, because this opener is the easiest to use. I have limited counter space available in my kitchen for appliances that need to be near an outlet, but this compact and attractive little opener takes up a minimal amount of space.

The wine bottle opener includes a foil cutter that is stored in the recharging base, but I am inept in my ability to use the cutter properly. My cutlery drawer is right underneath the wine opener, so I find it just as easy to grab a knife to cut the foil.

You operate the opener with the simple press of a button. Hold the bottle firmly in one hand, position the wine opener over the bottle top (you do not need to aim the corkscrew properly) and press the lower half of the universal button in a downward motion. You continue pressing the button in a downward motion until the bottle is completely uncorked.

To remove the cork from within the wine opener canister, just press the upper-half of the button in an upward motion until the canister has removed the cork. The cork usually just drops to the counter and you do not need to give the wine opener any assistance in removing the cork from the corkscrew.

Generally, this wine opener works well with all types of corks, including the difficult rubber/synthetic types and corks that have dried out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect gadget, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Emerson Electric Wine Bottle Opener - Black
This product is great. I have used it on both the traditional and plastic corks and have not had any problems at all with either. It did take me a few tries when I first received it to get the hang of it, but now I love it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Emerson Electric Wine Bottle Opener Faulty, January 15, 2011
This review is from: Emerson Electric Wine Bottle Opener - Black
This product worked for about 6 months, then quit. Extractor now barely nicks the cork's surface then stops. I now use my tried and true corkscrew. This $20 gadget is a typical throwaway, unrepairable and not worth postage to return to Emerson.
