4.0 out of 5 stars Good Little Radio, February 24, 2010
By
This review is from: Emerson RP6250 AM/FM Weather Band Radio (Electronics)
I got this as a birthday gift today and my first impression was that it looked okay. After unpacking it I could tell it was constructed very well. It has some weight to it for a small portable radio telling me its made with quality materials. Giving it the once over, I like the design... It looks very easy to use! The knobs are just the right size and tuning & volume knobs are very smooth. Tuning the Weather service in is very easy, it took less than a hair and I had it set. The LCD clock is a nifty little feature and the blue backlight makes it even better. I like that it runs on AC or DC, also has a headphone jack on the side. Only flaw is the VHF TV signals are now defunct here in the USA. The new model of this has the TV modes removed and is about $12 more. If you can find this older model with tv modes I would say buy that and save yourself the money, there are no changes besides that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emerson Noaa weather radio, May 25, 2011
This review is from: Emerson RP6250 AM/FM Weather Band Radio (Electronics)
I bought this weather radio because it was extremely cheap, and advertised that it was able to pick up the Noaa weather signals. I was researching prices and the cheapest other one I found was 50$ so this was an obvious buy. I had pretty low expectations when buying it, mainly because it looked small and cheaply made. When I got home, I plugged it in and set everything. The backlit clock is extremely nice and smartly made. You have to press a button to turn it on, so when you are using battery power it won't drain it. When I turned the weather radio on, it was extremely loud as the prior review said. HOWEVER, that person obviously didn't read the manual, because you simply turn the radio knob to on, press the weather button, and then adjust the volume.

Cliffs:
Has great reception and battery life
Has a small speaker, but can still be extremely loud
Great since it can pick up weather transmissions from noaa
The fm and am work great also
Good, easy to use design. Can run on batteries if the power goes out.

Overall:
If you are looking for a weather radio, and dont want to pay over 20 dollars for one, this is your best bet. It is made well, and made to last. If you want something that is fancy, this isn't for you.
