Excellent Library-Quality Resource for Dutch Immigrants, March 21, 2011
This review is from: Dutch Emigrants to the United States, South Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia, 1835-1880: An Alphabetical Listing by Household Heads and Inde (Hardcover)
This book is a listing of tens of thousands of names of immigrant Heads-of-Household, and is useful for confirming the details. It contains more detail than most of the electronic references to this same book (e.g., Ancestry.com), including religion, occupation, number of women and children in the family group, reasons for immigration, and village of origin. It certainly helps clarify the links between North American records and European ones. Since it may have, say, 5 to 25 entries under a particular surname, it's most useful if you already have some idea of the full name you're looking for. Sadly, it doesn't include the names of other members of the household, so wife and children details are limited.
