This review is from: Emigre No. 70 the Look Back Issue: Selections from Emigre Magazine 1-69. Celebrating 25 Years of Graphic Design (Hardcover)
When I was in college, Emigre magazine was only one year old.
I was fortunate enough to see Emigre evolve from a art rag to one of the most influential independent design magazines in the world. Their design without borders approach stirred controversy with design traditionalists, challenged the new generation of designers and opened up new font choices. They were the first typographer's of the digital realm. This is a "look back" starting from issue number one to the final issue number 69. Rudy Vanderlans had to recreate a few of the early (pre-digital) issues from scratch staying true to the design intentions not to mention the awesome typography of Suzana Licko. If you missed out on the original issues, this is a great compilation. This is history not to be missed!!

Really enjoyed going through this collection of Emigre back issues. Worth it for the interviews with such influential luminaries as Vaughan Oliver of 4AD.
