This review is from: Emile Durkheims Contribution To L'Anne Sociologique (Paperback)
The pioneering sociologist, Emile Durkheim, exercised enormous influence both as a writer of books and as a journal contributor. For many years, those of us who could not read French were limited to Durkheim's books but had little access to L'Annee Sociologique, the very influential French journal that reviewed books on sociology from all over the world. Durkheim's theories, many of which remain controversial, underwent substantial evolution during his lifetime. Unfortunately for English language readers, Durkheim's mature reflections were sometimes contained in his contributions to this journal and were not well known to us. While this book is not an introduction to Durkheim's thinking, it is an extremely valuable work for anyone who wants to acquire a comprehensive grasp of Durkheim's reflections on his own work as well as the work of his contemporaries.
