5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product
One of the reasons that I started looking for an alternative to my old stanby 13x9 Pyrex baking dish was because it was not broiler safe. I bought the E.H. 13x10 dish a year ago for this specific purpose, and I have been very pleased with it so far.

The E.H. dish is slightly wider and deeper than my Pyrex dish, which is nice because now I don't have to worry...

1.0 out of 5 stars Cracked after a few years of using this dish
I'm so disappointed that this baker cracked. I bought this about 4 years ago and only used it for lasagna and baked ziti, so it was used about 2-3 times a year! I really loved this pan because it is deep, about 3 inches, and it cleans up so well. I never put it in the freezer or dishwasher. The crack was not there when I was filling up the pan with ziti, it was...

One of the reasons that I started looking for an alternative to my old stanby 13x9 Pyrex baking dish was because it was not broiler safe. I bought the E.H. 13x10 dish a year ago for this specific purpose, and I have been very pleased with it so far.

The E.H. dish is slightly wider and deeper than my Pyrex dish, which is nice because now I don't have to worry about food spilling over the sides while it is cooking in the oven (most recipes call for a 9x13 dish).

The E.H. dish is also bottom rack dishwasher safe. Because the surfaces are smooth like a Pyrex, it could also be easily cleaned with a scrub brush and a dish rag. However, because the E.H. dish weighs 5 lbs.4.2 oz. (vs. the Pyrex of 3 lbs.9.9 oz.), I would definitely recommend using the dishwasher.

One reviewer mentioned using aluminum foil to line the dish before cooking. I'm not sure if this was to prevent burning? Is so, why not just add a little sauce to the bottom of the dish, as you would with a Pyrex dish? Nothing mysterious here.

Another nice feature about the E.H. dish is that it keeps food hotter out of the oven much longer than the Pyrex.

It should also be noted that the very bottom is not smooth, like the rest of the dish, so take care not to drag it over the counters like you would with a Pyrex dish.

At $60, this dish is a better bargain than the smaller E.H. designer version sold at the William-Sonoma stores. To me, this dish is prosciutto on a spam budget, and is a good buy.

Do not be afraid to use this dish as the manufacturer recommends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, but I have the white!!............, March 9, 2008
I love this pan, and I got it for a really cheap price, I think I paid about 30 bucks!! I make a lasagna in the pan( line it with foil), freeze the entire thing and then pop the frozen lasagna out of the pan. That goes into the freezer. When I want to bake it, I fit it right back into the pan and voila dinner for 8!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solomon's review is review of shipper, not product., December 17, 2007

I was shocked to see an Emile Henry product review receive one star until I read it. Solomon is rightly unhappy about his or her experience but shouldn't take it out on Emile Henry whose products are first rate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, October 16, 2008

I live alone; I love food but am a very lazy cook. And I loathe cleaning up afterwards. This is perfect for me. I'm not making more food than I can manage to eat. I can just throw some foil or plastic wrap on top and put the whole dish right in the fridge or freezer; take it right from there and into the oven or microwave. It fits right into the dishwasher (not taking up too much space) and baked on cheese was gone when the dishes were done. The color was exactly what I wanted: a deep, true red. I now have several more Emile Henry Provencal items on my wish list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lasagne Perfection, January 22, 2010
This is the best Lasagne dish, bar none. One Caveat- it's non-standard size so you have to go to the trouble of making wet noodles fit, not a difficult task. I transferred the remaining ingredients to a 9X5 1/2 Pyrex meat loaf dish & cooked 'em at the same time. Clean-up of this dish is 1/4 the effort of the Pyrex dish. Simply soak for about 15 minutes in hot water- it seems nothing will stick to it- and just wipe it out. You will not be dissapointed in this Lasagne dish.

5.0 out of 5 stars I cook all sorts of foods in this dish!, January 9, 2009
I recently purchased this dish. I thought it seemed a bit pricey, but I liked how it's ceramic which retains heat better when out of the oven. I've used this dish over 5 times in the last 2 weeks. And every time after washing it looks brand new.

Upon arrival, which was prompt, had a recipe in waiting to try out this Lasagna Baker. For this review we will call it a vegetable gratin with cheese topping. Used the oven for 25 minutes and the broiler for 4 minutes and the results were great. No sticking to the casserole, easy removal of the food and easy cleaning.

Love the new addition!

Emile Henry products are incredible and this one is no exception. They are beautiful, very rugged and very versitile. I have bought 2 of these bakers for myself and 2 more as wedding gifts and everyone loves them!

I actually bought this product from QVC a couple of years ago, although Amazon definitely has a better price. I absolutely love this dish. It retains heat very well and clean-up is a breeze. Great for lasagna and also a double batch of brownies, among many other things. I highly recommend every cook or baker get one of these!
