Renowned for their quality and durability, high-fired Emile Henry ceramics have been crafted in the Burgundy region of France since 1850. Even after years of use, the glossy, translucent glaze on Emile Henry stoneware won't discolor, crackle, or show utensil marks. The versatile ware is safe for the freezer, oven, microwave, broiler, and dishwasher. Each Emile Henry piece, individually inspected and stamped, is backed by a three-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

These are very good looking and obviously high quality. But you should be aware that the 5" is measured across the top outer edge, not the bottom. In my opinion they are very small, plenty big for individual Pecan Pie but too small for Chicken Pot Pie. I was trying to match a set of bowls like these by another manufacturer that are 5" across the bottom and they turned out to be 5" across the top. So, these will be for the little grandkids instead of the adults.

This pan makes my Pilsbury crusted chicken pot pie taste like I made the crust myself. It really makes it crispy and nice.

I own six of these in various colors, and I find them absolutely fantastic. I like to make up a batch of six pot pies and freeze, and they bake up beautifully straight from the freezer. One makes a great light lunch for me, and two make a hearty dinner. The dishes are very durable and clean up at least as easily as non-stick metal, and I find that they bake much better. Yes, the price is high, but you're paying for real quality, and if you make individual sweet or savory pies with any frequency, you owe it to yourself to make them in these dishes.
