These are very good looking and obviously high quality. But you should be aware that the 5" is measured across the top outer edge, not the bottom. In my opinion they are very small, plenty big for individual Pecan Pie but too small for Chicken Pot Pie. I was trying to match a set of bowls like these by another manufacturer that are 5" across the bottom and they turned out to be 5" across the top. So, these will be for the little grandkids instead of the adults.

This pan makes my Pilsbury crusted chicken pot pie taste like I made the crust myself. It really makes it crispy and nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, January 30, 2010

I own six of these in various colors, and I find them absolutely fantastic. I like to make up a batch of six pot pies and freeze, and they bake up beautifully straight from the freezer. One makes a great light lunch for me, and two make a hearty dinner. The dishes are very durable and clean up at least as easily as non-stick metal, and I find that they bake much better. Yes, the price is high, but you're paying for real quality, and if you make individual sweet or savory pies with any frequency, you owe it to yourself to make them in these dishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pie Dishes!, April 29, 2011
This review is from: Emile Henry 5-Inch Individual Pie Dishes, Cerise Red, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
I love these little individual pie dishes. I agree with other reviewers, though, that these are best for mini cakes, cobblers and dessert pies, not necessarily for pot pies. Although they would work for pot pies if you only have a top crust so you have more room for filling on the bottom. My almost-3-year-old daughter loves to have her own little cakes and fruit bakes in here. And my husband and I love these because they are built-in portion control. The smooth finish makes clean-up exceptionally easy. I forgot to grease them once when baking little cakes, and the cakes stuck, but a 5 minute soak in warm water loosened everything up and now they're as good as new.

Come on people! How big do you think 5 inches is?! Anyhoo, I love Emile Henry bakeware, they're beautiful to look at, bake beautifully and evenly, and so easy to clean. Stuck on foods come right off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy pie baker, February 12, 2011
This review is from: Emile Henry 5-Inch Individual Pie Dishes, Cerise Red, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
I bought the Emile Henry Couleurs Individual Pie Dish back in 2007 and I suspect they are the same pie plate being sold here for a whole bunch more money. I purchased two pie plates for about $18 back then. These plates are far pricier but I am sure they are worth every penny after my experiences with using the Couleurs pie plates.

What I like most about this pie plate is how evenly, and nicely, the pie crust bakes. I use them to make hefty chicken pot pies for my husband's lunch. He says he's the envy of the workplace lunchroom as his co-workers get to see him feasting while they are eating those TV dinners :-). The pie plates add a bit of panache, and I wasn't so sure I'd like the red color, but it grows on you. I now like the color very much as I find it very cheery and delightful. The color also adds great eye appeal.

I am glad I purchased these pie plates as they make perfect little pies.

Highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars cute, but small, December 21, 2010

very nice, but no idea how anyone would be able to use them for a pot pie. Alot smaller than I had anticipated. I'll keep for single serving dessert pies, but that will be it.
