Most often used bowls in our home :-), July 18, 2007
This review is from: Emile Henry Cereal Bowls, Set of 2, Vert (Kitchen)
Although I have the cobalt version of these bowls, my entire family absolutely LOVES them!! I have these cereal bowls, the 1qt pasta bowls that I use for salads and also the rimmed soup bowls that I use for pasta dishes & soups. For comparison sake, I'm NOT a huge fan of the soup bowls because they are shallow, your soup gets cold quickly. It's ok for pasta dishes since they ARE shallow, they help me keep my pasta portions small.
The 1qt pasta bowls are AWESOME but they hold A LOT of food so I use those daily for salads so I load up on salad vs other food. It's also great for soups and pastas but I try to remember to not serve myself pasta in them because it's easy to fill the bowl up and eat too much.
Now for the cereal bowls, at first, I wasn't sure that I would like them but I'm SO happy that I went ahead and bought them as they are used on a daily basis even by our 6 year old. We use them for cereals, oatmeals, soups at times, desserts, chili, ice cream, side dishes...it's the PERFECT size for just about anything.
Overall, I think the rimmed soup bowls are the most ATTRACTIVE ones since they are one color inside & out but these cereal bowls are the best bang for my buck in all of the Emile Henry items that I have purchased so far!! Since the cobalt ones are discontinued, I have to add some other colors in hopes to avoid more wear and tear out of my current bowls. I figure the more I have, the more I can rotate them around - I like them THAT much!!
I do have to add as a last note, that contrary to some other reviewers, although these bowls get the most usage, I see less WEAR on them because they are french white inside. For example, my dinner & salad plates that are cobalt blue all over (top & bottom) do have SOME very light scratches on them from knives or someone aggressvily stabbing their foods. My cereal bowls look flawless.
DEFINTELY worth the buy, I'm in love with this entire line!!! :-)

Not up to par with their claims, July 4, 2010
This review is from: Emile Henry Cereal Bowls, Set of 2, Vert (Kitchen)
Emile Henry claims that these are dishwasher safe, but mine developed a crack from rim to base within a couple of years. It was only used as a cereal bowl. Unfortunately, this is a common problem with this bowl. Not recommended.

Love Emile Henry, November 15, 2010
This review is from: Emile Henry Cereal Bowls, Set of 2, Vert (Kitchen)
I love these bowls. My initial reaction upon opening them up was "Oh my gosh, they are small" however looks are deceiving.
These bowls hold quite a bit, wash up beautiful and are very sturdy!
I bought 4 of the "vert" green bowls, came back bought 4 more red and just purchased 4 more "fig". I have more Emile Henry than I know what to do with!
It's a quality product and the MOST important for me, it contains no lead as MANY dishes, bakers do. I've slowly replaced all my dishware and bakeware with items such as Emile Henry which contain no toxins.
Great purchase!
