Amazon.com Review

Ideal for baking lasagna, cobbler, and macaroni and cheese, this 10-by-13-inch dish is a traditional French shape and has a smooth exterior that makes it welcome in contemporary kitchens. It can go directly from freezer to oven, into the microwave, under the broiler, and through the dishwasher without harming its glossy, lead-free glaze, which does not absorb odors or moisture and is so hard it will not crack, discolor, or scratch--even if food is cut on it. Beautiful enough to grace a dining table, it measures 2-5/8 inches deep and weighs 4.6 pounds.

Since 1850, Emile Henry cookware and bakeware have been made in Burgundy, where a unique clay is kiln-fired into a ceramic unsurpassed for conducting and retaining heat. Prized worldwide, Emile Henry products come in a wide range of colors, from the earth tones (with creamy interiors) of the rustic Le Potier line to the bright hues (with white interiors) of the Couleurs line, of which this all-white dish is a gleaming example. Each piece is stamped with the year it was made and the initials of the craftsman responsible for its perfection and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Product Description

5.0 out of 5 stars I think It's cleaning itself, February 16, 2006

"I think It's cleaning itself" says my wife as she was soaking it in the sink after we baked mac and cheese. It seemed like it was. I gave it a quick scrub with a songe and it was clean. No need to soak it really.

This is the best folks, skip the Le Creuset and go for this. If you want to save some bucks go for the Cuisinart Chef Clasics (see my review on that)

1.0 out of 5 stars Interior Glaze was Flawed., January 10, 2005
I was very excited to buy this pan but was sorely disappointed when it arrived. The interior glaze was covered with many small pits that were visible to the eye and could be felt when I ran my hand over them. I sent the pan back and asked for an exchange. The exchange arrived very quickly, but unfortunately was also flawed. This time it was a single, but large flaw in the interior of the pan--a sizeable spur with a pit in the glaze. I sent the second pan back as well, but this time got a refund on my money. I love Amazon, but I've given up on buying this pan from Amazon. Maybe I'll have better luck in a real store where I can inspect the pan before buying...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Cookware, November 4, 2002
By A Customer
This item can be used for a large number of recipies, not just lasagna. I usually cook for two and the size is perfect. I love all the Emile Henry quality products and plan to add to my collection. The heat conductivity is perfect for maximum quality baking.
