It can go directly from freezer to oven, into the microwave, and through the dishwasher without harming its glossy, lead-free glaze, which does not absorb odors or moisture and is so hard it will not crack, discolor, or scratch--even if food is cut on it. I love Emile Henry and these dishes are great. Nice size, I use one at work for lunch, nice for side dishes. There is nothing I would change about it. You can use it daily and it will always look like new, it is very durable. It is just a pleasure to have in the kitchen, I can not say anything bad about it. I give Emile Henry to both of my sons and they love it as well.

Although I received these dishes in error (I had ordered the oval ones, but Emile Henry mislabeled the box), these little baking dishes are great!

The first thing I cooked in them was a vegetable au gratin dish and they performed beautifully in the oven and went straight to the table because of their good looks. They hold up very well in the dishwasher, even with repeated cleanings. (To be on the safe side, I place them on the top shelf.) They also make great plates for small meals (e.g., two eggs and bacon).

I am very pleased with these baking dishes.
