I've long been an admirer of the Emile Henry settings and coffee mugs. I bought some in red last year and have been very pleased. The color is rich--which was part of my criteria, and the actual ceramic is high quality and not the porous junk that easily wears down and breaks. These are slightly heavy duty with elegance. Love them! My only gripe was that the ones I ordered had tiny variations in the glaze. Not in the overall color from cup to cup, but there were a few small dark spots and I wondered if the particular seller that I had bought them from was selling higher quality seconds, since I hadn't noticed these variations in the in-store cups I had seen. At anyrate, I like idiosyncracies, so I was fine with that, but if that would irritate, you might want to consult with the seller first.

I ordered all three colors of these mugs - red, blue and white. The blue and white mugs have a shiny, even glaze. The red glaze is mottled and has more of a matte finish, giving it a more rustic, country look. The mugs are great but the three different colors look very different and really don't match each other.

I have a set of cobult blue Emile Henry mugs. I wanted to add to the set and ordered these. They are not all blue, they have white interiors. White interiors would be fine, however, these looked like they are seconds. The glaze is smeared along the lip of the mug with an appearance of a jagged edge. Two fo the mugs have what looks like a fine "spray" of blue glaze on the interior over the white. This light glaze is not all over, just over part of the white glaze making it appear to be very low quality work.
I love my Emile Henry mugs that I bought elsewhere and wished the mugs I ordered were the same quality. This is unusual for a product ordered through Amazon.

That morning cup of coffee is hard to beat in a beautifully balanced, simple yet substantial cup. The thickness of the pottery keeps the coffee hot longer than other mugs and I am always happy to serve hot beverages to guests. A quality product.

Combined with steaming, milky coffee, these cheery, red mugs add so much pleasure to my day. The red is vibrant set against the white interior and the glaze on the outside has a slightly mottled effect that adds richness. The mug is nicely weighted and large enough to hold a very satisfying amount of beverage. It feels good in my hands.

These mugs are a beautiful rich red and are large enough to use as an everyday drinking glass. Usually mugs in sets are small and useless, but I have found these to be ideal for water, milk, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate!

Emile Henri has a superb line of table ware and these coffe mugs are no exception. Brilliantly hued and durable.

These mugs have become my favorite! Perfect for my tea and coffee.

These mugs are the favorite of my wife. They are heavy, a testiment to their durability. The cobalt blue on the outside and the french white on the inside it absolutely beatiful.

This is our first review. We are very glad that we ordered these cups, bowls, and plates.

Our search for new dinnerware this summer was driven by two factors: safety and health -- and these criteria are not necessarily one and the same.

First, the Emile Henry line was the only one WE found which aims to eliminate toxic products in the manufacturing of dinnerware. This is good because we eat off of and out of these particular items -- as well as subjecting them to the stresses of our microwave oven and our dishwasher.

Second, we purchased these items in pieces and parts, rather than as a set, in order to forego acquiring the dinner plates. Dollar-wise not the best decision, but limiting the size of our meals to the salad/desert plates works well toward keeping the/our weight down. We found the dinnerware rather pricey, but we're not sorry that we spent the money to get them.

The flaws in the "finish" to which other reviewers referred are there, they are noticeable, and -- TO US -- not at all objectionable. We really like the "sand" color that we chose; it came as pictured. Shipment proceeded well and in a timely manner.

As to this purchase, we are tickled pink.
