3.0 out of 5 stars Too small for entrees!
I was so excited to receive my Emile Henry bowls today as I love the quality and functionality of their merchandise, but ultimately was sadly disappointed. My major complaint is that at 7 1/2" x 2 1/4" they are simply too small for entree sized pasta bowls! Excellent for all pasta dishes; no spillage like what happens on a regular dinner plate. Also, our new favorite to hold chef salads. Love the quality, color, and easy care. Another Emile Henry item I'd be pleased to recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The William Morris edict, August 9, 2008

If we are to "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful" (pace William Morris), then these bowls belong, under one species or the other. And, for Emile Henry-philes like me, under both.

The bowls won't go with everything. Except for the blues and the brown, Emile Henry colors and heft demand to be set among similarly strong colors and heavy pieces. But they're cheerful in every season and they won't slide around as you chase down that last strand of spaghetti.

Sturdiness is one of the qualities I admire most about Emile Henry pieces. Although I have other bowls and plates and serving pieces, these are the longest wearing. They accept rough treatment from the dishwasher and from being jostled around in the cupboards. They tolerate long distance moves (and movers!). And they take the insults of daily use without showing a sign of wear.

These bowls are no exception to the high standard of other Emile Henry pieces. I recommend them.

I love the bright color and sturdy size of these bowls. I smile every time I use them. I'm surprised by the reviews that say these aren't big enough for a pasta entree. I thought I ate rather large portions and I can assure you these are ample for even my ravenous appetite. In fact, I sometimes feel a bit gluttonous when I've served up a big dish of pasta in these!

The bowls are also great for salads - so large you can easily toss the dressing / salad in the bowl before serving. Definitely main-course sized and not for a smaller side salad. These are also great as family-style serving dishes for mashed potatoes, veggies, etc.

Have had absolutely no chipping or scratching, despite heavy use and stacking them one on top of the other. Love 'em.

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible scrach marks and zero customer service from Emile Henry!, December 21, 2011
This review is from: Emile Henry Individual Pasta Bowls, Set of 2, Cerise Red (Kitchen)
I have three sets of Emile Henry Paste Bowls, after a few months of usage, none of the bowls are in good condition, there are hundreds of scratch marks inside, we have 18/18 stainless steel folks made in Sweden, we never had any scratch on any of our other plates or bowls. I tried different methods to erase the marks, however, not successful.. - I own two pie dishes and two rectangular bakers from Emile Henry, which didn't show any scratch.
I tried to call Emile Henry, to see if the paste bowls used different glaze than other products, nobody answered phone calls, left messages without any response. I emailed them to, still no response.

There is zero customer service or support. Product quality is uneven. I will never purchase any product from this company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long lasting; love them, September 27, 2011
This review is from: Emile Henry Individual Pasta Bowls, Set of 2, Cerise Red (Kitchen)
I bought these bowls several years ago. They are my favorites. I use them every day. I've run them through the dishwasher hundreds of times, microwaved them, moved to a new home, and the bowls aren't even scratched. The bright red color is as beautiful as when I first got them. I use them for soup, salads, chili, ice cream, pasta, snacks, you name it. Boil some fresh ravioli, put a pat of butter on it, and that's lunch. Some complain these bowls are too small for a pasta main course and that is probably true, but they are perfect for carrying a pasta lunch into the living room to watch TV.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too small for entrees!, March 29, 2011
This review is from: Emile Henry Individual Pasta Bowls, Set of 2, Cerise Red (Kitchen)
I was so excited to receive my Emile Henry bowls today as I love the quality and functionality of their merchandise, but ultimately was sadly disappointed. My major complaint is that at 7 1/2" x 2 1/4" they are simply too small for entree sized pasta bowls! My Italian friends would laugh if I tried serving linguine vongole, cioppino or shrimp scampi in these little guys; these are bowls I might use for salad, ice cream or cereal. My fault though as I hadn't read the product description thoroughly, though I don't believe they should be marketed as "pasta" bowls. They were of course the usual excellent quality Emile Henry, but unfortunately the bottom of one bowl was scratched/scarred, as though a packing tool or knife had scraped it. But, I'll be keeping them, regardless. Can't have enough bowls! (Gave them only 3 stars based strictly on the limited size for stated purpose; quality is excellent.)
