Marcigny, a small town nestling between the hills of Southern Burgundy, has been home to Emile Henry for the past 150 years. Faithful to its origins, the entire production is carried out here. WOW! This one is HUGE!!!,

Although I have the cobalt blue one, I decided to write a review on this since personally, I have relied on other's reviews about the functionality, design since I already have other pieces in the same line / color. If you are an Emile Henry fan, and are looking at buying THIS particular Cerise Red, you most likely know what sort of 'red' it is. I do not own any of the red, just the cobalt.
The design like all Emile products are EXTREMELY sturdy, substantial in weight, VERY strong considering it's pottery and beautiful. I just got my 2 bowls in yesterday and BOY! ARE THEY HUGE!!! Luckily, they DO fit in my cupboards which I'm relieved about. They are shaped & designed exactly like the smaller individual pasta bowls, these are just again, much bigger. If you entertain AT ALL, (I only do maybe 3-4 times per year...mostly our birthday parties or Thanksgiving and such)...then one of these would definitely come in handy. I had several 2, 3 qt bowls with my pflatzgraff set and would always have to refill them faster or put several bowls of the same item out (ie: chips or salad) but this will fit ALL of it in one bowl! I would also like a 2 and 3 qt matching size though for variety but then I guess I could use the 1qt pasta bowls for that. All in all, it's a staple, in my opinion, at least one like you would have a serving platter to keep on hand. :-)

This was the sixth or seventh Emile Henry piece we've purchased in the last twenty or so years and the quality is, as you would expect, superb. We use it as an all-purpose bowl - sometimes for pasta, more often for salad or as a fruit bowl when we have company staying for awhile. Like all in the line, the finish is just gorgeous. While we have some pieces in green and blue we keep coming back to the Cerise Red because it goes with just about any colors on the table.
