From Publishers Weekly
Two girls decide to be best friends; the art, said PW, "has verve and charm, capturing the slightly volatile chemistry between eager Emily and the more demanding Alice." Ages 4-8.

From School Library Journal
Kindergarten-Grade 1-Emily and Alice meet when Alice moves in next door. They become friends, do things together, and have a fight and make up, all in three brief episodes. This unoriginal story is much improved by Stevenson's cheerful, scrawly, pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations depicting the pleasures and annoyances of friendship. The layout is bright and inviting, with lots of white space and big pictures. Not outstanding in any way, but a good addition to large picture book collections.
