The book is well written.
Richard Rahl
Read this book and see how poorly Emily is treated for just wanting to protect herself and read the stories she tells in between her efforts to get her gun permit.

Emily Miller's story should be read by every American who believes in the second amendment.

Pro-gunner - Read this book. Understand how far we have fallen from the founders' wishes and get to work.

Anti-gunner - you say you have an open mind? Prove it! Read this book and find fault with the logic...if you can.

"Emily Gets Her Gun" is a very well researched book about gun control across the nation and major players such as Obama and Bloomberg. I was expecting a story. A story that, for the most part, I had already read in the Washington Times. I was very wrong. It is not just about DC. Emily has cleaned it, polished it, and parsed it in a manner that fills in and completes the national story in a manner that I now realize was not available to her in her daily column. It is fresh in a way that I did not expect. The icing on the cake is the notes section. I have heard gun owners and anti-gunners alike say many things that they 'knew' but could not provide an informational source. Emily has extensive notes that give dates and web links located toward the back of the book so they do not get in the way of the reader and yet still are available for the thinker, researcher, and curiosity seeker.

Emily Miller is a Second Amendment warrior. Chapters alternate between her personal story of navigating a completely absurd bureaucratic maze to exercise an individual, fundamental right which "shall not be infringed," and a thorough analysis of the lies, ignorance, and distortion used by the left, the media, and the current administration to undermine your rights. Ms. Miller included several appendices and meticulously documented her work with references to primary sources which increases the value of this resource immensely. Ms. Miller's writing style is easy and entertaining, making for a rapid read without losing any of the substance.

No matter what side of the gun debate you are on, you need to read this book. It brings into sharp focus the problems with attempts at gun control. The criminals have no problems obtaining illegal firearms, but a law abiding citizen like Emily are made to jump through expensive hoops to obtain a gun.

Worse yet, when the need for self protection was immediate, the misguided laws put lengthy time delays into the equation.

This is perhaps one of the best written books on the subject of firearms and their related legislation. Ms. Miller has gone into extensive detail as to how draconian gun laws are only an impediment to those who wish to legally own firearms, and have no overall bearing on controlling crime. More so, this is a book on how our nation's capital has become a quagmire of bureaucratic incompetence at the expense of public safety.

"I generally don't call myself pro gun. I choose to describe myself as pro-Second Amendment. A gun is just a tool. The fight is for freedom." - Emily Miller

In just a short amount of time she went from "I want a gun" to that statement above. That journey is so wonderful to follow in her book and share with those who don't quiet get the meaning of our 2A rights.

I have the audible, Kindle and hard copy. All are excellent.

This is a fantastic explanation of Washington D.C.'s resistance to let its citizens exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. If you own a gun, you will LOVE this book and maybe appreciate the ease of purchasing your firearm. If you are considering buying a gun, then you NEED to read this book and if you were looking for the cold hard facts and proof that this administration and its progressive supporters are trying to take away your guns in order to move toward their plan of a socialist nation, then you MUST read this book! Emily's facts are irrefutable and this book should be your "call to arms" that we as citizens need to fight back and protect our God given rights under the Constitution. Bravo Emily!

Well, instead of buzz, it should be KAPOW !!! That's the sound of the reaction from the gun-owner community being generated by Emily's book.

Those of us who have followed the series in The Washington Time's know of her travails, but when she put them in book form along with the exploits of gun-grabbers, both locally and nationally, she paints an onerous picture of a concerted effort to violate our 2nd amendment rights ... and she does it wearing a pink dress while staring down the bad guys. For the political junkie-come gun-owner, her book is a page turner. Even for the non-aficionado of firearms, Emily weaves a fast moving narrative of law vs. lawless and rights vs. privilege that informs and enrages anyone who longs for the good ol' days when you could tell the good guys from the bad guys by the sidearm strapped to their hip.

I don't think that she started out to be the 'pin up girl' for gun rights, but with this book, she has, and she places the 2nd Amendment front and center as the protector of the 1st ... especially freedom of the press.

At approximately 370 heavily footnoted and commented pages, it's not only an excellent read, but an excellent reference too. BUY IT !!!

Great book on DC gun laws and the politics that surrounds firearms in general. Worth the read for anyone wanting to learn about guns, and laws.
