This guide to entertaining at home seems an essential resource, and it's also quite fun. It provides helpful guidance on etiquette questions, but I especially loved how practical it was. From specific ideas on hostess gifts for every occasion (dinner, a one-night visit, an entire weekend) to how to make small talk to handling awkward situations (such as when someone brings a friend to your party without letting you know in advance and you don't have quite enough food) to setting the table, etc. There are recipes, menus, and photos, which are inspiring. I enjoyed reading it through for ideas and guidance, and now it will make an excellent reference book for future entertaining at home.
I think it would make a perfect bridal shower gift or for anyone in their 20s and 30s.

This is a helpful gathering of how-to-put-on-a-party To Dos. Best for the novice. List are pretty logical, but nice to have everything in on place. I would have liked more suggested menus and recipes, especially do-ahead recipes.
