5.0 out of 5 stars Best Hip Hop biography. Period
This is a must see for all Eminem fans. For the first time we get a real look into the superstar's pre-fame days. We get to follow his footsteps in his everyday struggles in the days when he was trying to come up as a rapper. The story is told through a number of interviews from Em's mother, grandmother, uncle todd, ex-boss when he was a cook, etc. There's also some great...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting But I Thought Em Would Be In Video
This was a good DVD overall. But my expectations were that Eminem would make a live appearance in the video, but instead, it was just friends and family members talking about him, and saying stuff that I basically already knew about Eminem. I mean I'm a diehard fan, so maybe this video is better for new fans of Eminem.

There's also some great footage of scribble jam '97 where Em battles another MC before Em was well-known. Furthermore, Treach from Naughty by Nature narrated the voice-overs which I thought was really dope considering Em has noted Treach to be one of his greatest influences. He definitely provides this feature with some added flavor. Seriously, for anybody who has ever wondered what it took for Eminem to get to where he is today, you gotta see this.

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best documentary DVD on Eminem!, November 30, 2004

The producers of this DVD did a spectacular documentary on Eminem! I love Eminem and I thought I knew everything about him and his early life. The DVD gives never before seen pictures and footage of Eminem. Plus, it shows AWESOME interviews with Eminem's mom and uncle Todd (I think this was his last interview before passing away one month ago). Plus footage of Ronnie as a kid, Eminem's childhood friend. The DVD also dissects Eminem's tattoos and coolest of all his early childhood artistic skills of Spiderman, and other superheros. I strongly recommend this DVD to all Eminem diehards and to anybody who wants to know what it took for Eminem to be where he is today. The coolest part of the DVD was the use of cartoon effects to the documentary, just like in the comic books! This is by far the best stuff on Eminem! I love Eminem, he is the best rapper EVER!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good DVD For True Eminem Fans, August 22, 2007
This review is from: Eminem - AKA (DVD)
This DVD is good for only true Eminem fans, it has a pretty good insight into Em's life. It talks about him growing up in 8 Mile, rapping in clubs, and the movie talks about his first few albums, their impact, and where he is now. It also talks about his relationships with D-12, G-Unit, Dr.Dre, and Snoop Dogg. It also brifly mentions his feud with Benzino and Ja Rule.

The best part is there are videos of Eminem freestyling back in the early 90's, those are videos you cannot see elsewhere. It shows him in many different competitions. There are a few hours of bonus features, they have extended interviews with Eminem, and interviews with other rappers who have rapped with Em or knew him.

I do not recommend this for an average rap fan, I recommend this for diehard fans of Eminem who want to know everything about him.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must-see for all eminem fans (and haters!), May 23, 2011
This review is from: Eminem - AKA (DVD)
this is an excellent documentary of emienm's background and family history! all eminem fans will appreciate the depth that the filmmakers go into to uncover elements from his past that most people are totally unaware of. haters who watch this will be forced to acknowledge how hard eminem worked to get where he is today, this video describes all of the struggles em had to face to make his dream into a reality. very informative (although who really can tell if debbie nelson-mathers is for real?). the bonus features are great too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall the best documentary ever done on Eminem, January 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eminem - AKA (DVD)
There's no doubt in my mind that this DVD of this incredible documentary would be it hands down. I still can't get enough of it. Looking thru the inside of the real Marshall Mathers before he became Eminem or Slim Shady filled with trials, tribulations, turmoil, death situations, and so much happening and how he rose to be one of the true geniuses in the rap industry today. He's by no means stands as a true living poet with much dignity, love, encouragement, heartfelt and pride. There's nobody else that can sound like him. If you ever seen the movie 8 Mile (Full Screen Edition), you can tell the real deal how he got his inspiration from.
Nice interviews from friends and family members who got to know him better. The bonus features are worth the pick on this DVD.

No matter whether you hate him, dislike him or the other, he is what he is. You can't deny that. RIP to Eminem's Uncles Todd Nelson, Em's best friend and protege Proof, and his sidekick Ronnie whom changed Eminem's life.

Still the best documentary seen so far.
