I was looking to get a speaker replacement for my guitar amp and wanted an EV 12L. The guy at the music store told me about this Eminence Delta Pro 12A speaker and said it would be a good substitute and be a lot cheaper. So I tied it. I was knocked out by how similar it sounds to an EV. If you're looking for a good speaker replacement for your guitar cabs or combos...look no further. This will let your amp shine in a very uncolored way!

Update: After one year and 350 hours of play time this is my speaker. I think mine has brightened up some since I first made the purchase. Don't judge this speaker right away. It takes a long time to break in. I will be getting one more for stereo sound. Guitar sounds really good clean and with distortion. Can be used for keys too. I have tried this against a EVM12L and the Eminence EM12. It is very similar to both of them. For metal or additional high and mids mix with a V30 or similar in a 2x12; it really adds the heavy to your tone.

Original Post:

Speaker seems well built, a little heavier, but not much. I really don't notice the extra five pounds. I just finished playing the Delta Pro for about 4 hours. Thing can move some air. Bass and drums sounded really good for the brief time I played recorded music with it, though I will be mostly using this with guitar. I have always wanted to try a EVM12L, but the price, no. I am using the Delta in a 1x12 Mesa Boogie recto sealed cab. Amplifier is a Mesa Boogie Stereo 2:Fifty. So far so good, sounds great, really clear sound.

Speaker is really good with guitar, but not great. With some amps I can see not being able to cut through the mix live, though for loud practice or solo this would be great. Delta has a lack of high end when compared a matching cabinet with a Celestion V30. I have to turn up the presence quite a bit to get the Delta to match the high end of the V30. Over all I like the Delta more than the V30, the Delta is clearer, sounds seem more defined and detailed, no muddy sound where you don't want them. I never really liked the V30 when that is only speaker. Overall I think the Delta Pro will be a keeper for me when mixed with another speaker. I think I will try matching it with the Eminence EM12, or may keep the V30; I was surprised how well the the Delta mixes with the V30.

This is a wicked speaker,I was looking to get another EV-12L for my 2x12 cab. Had been playing it for a while with a couple of pillows taking up the space..lol.. After looking around at what else could hold it's own, beside the EV-12. I ran into a guy that had a Delta Pro 12A in his Mesa Thiele cab, and it had such a great fat bottom end I knew it wasn't a EV-12L that usually is what guitarist use in that cab.
Well after talking a while with the guy,he said he had swapped out the EV for the Delta Pro and fell in love!! And I know now just what he meant!!! Pairing up the Delta with my EV is pure magic, the EV shines in the upper register while the Delta fills in the lows and mids so well it's stunning! I've used this setup with everything from a Blackheart Little Giant 5w to my Marshall MF350 monster and these two rock together like no other speaker combo I have used. With head room for days, and I'm 3'' shorter from lugging this 2 ton beast around.

I put this in a 1973 Fender twin reverb I was restoring. This is a real bad boy with clarity, power handling and mass. I could not have done better and the price was even better. It compares well to the Cerwin Vega that it sits beside and makes a deadly combination. My amp sound better than new. Highly recommended.
