5.0 out of 5 stars STAR TREK: DS9, PREMIERE PILOT. . .
...Is well conceived, intelligently designed, and cleverly launched with, a modest intersection of the previous STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, filmed and edited to appear in a Time-Line when "Locutus" of "Borg" was spearheading an all out attack on the planets and civilizations in the Milky Way.

Just prior to STAR TREK: VOYAGER, with the first Female lead,...

1.0 out of 5 stars My favorite ST series, Amazon Instant Video is Great, but....
Aside from not being able to watch these on my TV due to licensing, some of the episodes are missing. I want to watch every episode in order. So you have to look carefully at the number of the episodes to notice that ones are missing, but what you might not realize unless you compare it to an episode listing elsewhere is that the season finale is missing for Season 1...

...Is well conceived, intelligently designed, and cleverly launched with, a modest intersection of the previous STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, filmed and edited to appear in a Time-Line when "Locutus" of "Borg" was spearheading an all out attack on the planets and civilizations in the Milky Way.

Just prior to STAR TREK: VOYAGER, with the first Female lead, "DS9" [nickname] introduced us to a more benign minded, and spiritual lead character in the form of Rutger's University's Professor of Theater: "Mr. Avery Brooks" in the role of "Commander Benjamin Sisko" who is reluctantly stationed on the Space Station "Deep Space 9" while dealing with the overwhelming death of his wife, and the duties of being a single parent.

"EMMISARY" the pilot, introduces an array of characters, complex situations, and thought provoking multiple themes while serving up enough action to please the average SciFi Fan. Definitely the most diverse Pilot Premiere of the STAR TREK franchises... ---GBJ

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Show, the Best Trek yet!, August 18, 2011
By
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
Deep Space is an epic series not only in the sense of trek but for TV in general. DS9 took the basic TV episodic forumla and transitioned to the ensemble cast story arc formula that we all know and love now. Great Show. Can't wait for the remasters

5.0 out of 5 stars Transitions, September 4, 2011
By
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
Deep Space Nine is the perfect answer to those lingering questions left by many different episodes of The Next Generation. No, not all our questions are answered, but let's accept the fact that the human imagination is capable of so many iterations of future reality that not all are possible to portray in one show. I think that the Star Trek creators were testing Trekkie's taste for new adventures that did not fall completely in line with the Enterprise model we've become accustomed. Take a chance on Deep Space and watch how some really horrible episodes give way to episodes with epic space battles that will fuel your imagination for years to come. That is the point isn't it...

So watch Deep Space Nine and keep in mind that it is a Transition for the future of the Star Trek universe that eventually bolsters the credibility of the newer stories within Voyager and Enterprise and then finally the oh-so-amazing, most recent Star Trek movie...without Deep Space Nine, none of us would have accepted the new faces in Star Trek.

4.0 out of 5 stars Episodes no longer missing for Season 1 Deep Space 9, September 3, 2011
By
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
I've deleted my previous complaint because all episodes are now available for Season 1 Deep Space 9. I went back and watched the ones not available when I first started watching and have only four to go for the season. Emissary aired in two parts but the segments were rolled into Emissary. When DS9 aired I saw an occasional episode and am really enjoying watching Deep Space 9 from Season 1 Episode 1 without having to spend a lot of money to buy the series. Spending about three hundred dollars to watch once would be too big an investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Series, August 22, 2011
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
Great series, TOS, TNG, and DS9 are all great series. DS9 being the middle show never got the spotlight to itself and suffered from it. Only problem I have is they need to upgrade DS9 and TNG to HD as best they can the quality on my HD tv is good but not great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, September 10, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
Very good episode one of my favorite of the series. My favorite is the ending ones. However, I can only see this on my TV on the mac side of my computer and none of my players will play it from my windows side. I can see it from the windows side only on the computer screen but my laptop screen isn't big enough so I watch it on line from the web site.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent beginning to a great series, September 23, 2011
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
This episode covers so much ground and takes the viewer on an high-paced adventure. Watching this first episode sucks you in immediately. I would equate this as the same level as the Battlestar Galactica opening miniseries!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, February 6, 2012
This review is from: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 (Amazon Instant Video)
When this series was being broadcast I never got interested in watching it. This is one of those shows where you have to know what has happened in the previous episodes in order to understand the little details. Having it all here in one place made that possible and it's been a joy to watch. Some of the acting is over the top, and you can spot where they reuse cut scenes, but I love it all the same. My favorite character aren't even on all of the episodes.
