This review is from: Emma and the Earl: AND Scandals by Georgina Devon (Regency Rakes) (Paperback)
This book contains two stories from two different authors. The following is from the back of the book:
EMMA AND THE EARL by Paula Marshall The penniless Miss Emma Lawrence has no choice about accepting the post of governess to the young daughter of Dominic Hastings, the Earl of Chard. But what unkind twist of fate has her working for the man she might have married when she was the rich Miss Emilia Lincoln? And -- more disconcerting -- will he recognise her? In ten years they have both changed so much -- except for Emma's abiding love for Dominic . . . . SCANDALS by Georgina Devon Jonathan, Marquis of Langston, will not let his younger brother be duped by an adventuress, even if it means taking drastic measures to expose the notorious widow, beautiful Samantha Davidson, the toast of the London stage! But his brother Dev isn't the only one interested in Samantha -- she's beginning to have a very unsettling effect on Jonathan himself. . . . Both stories are interesting and enjoyable reads. "Emma and the Earl" was slow to start although the story was a good one. Both characters are likeable and the Earl's daughter, Tish, is a delight and a nice addition to the story. "Scandals" is a continued story of brothers featured in "The Untamed Heart" and "Betrayal," but can be read as a stand-alone book without a problem. I found the attraction between Jon and Samantha a bit much with only touching each other to cause a loss of control even after they are married, but the story was a good one. |
