If you read horror mysteries, these may be for you! Willow Rose is a terrific writer who brings a lot of twists and turns to her scary novels. I have not been a follower of horror novels in the past, but it looks like my still-new Kindle is broadening my perspective! Once I was into these books, I could not put them down.

These three Rose novels are:

Bk 1: ITSY BITSY SPIDER;
Bk 2: MISS POLLY HAD A DOLLY; and,
Bk 3: RUN RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

I recommend reading the three novels in order, because they are related in one way or another. Be sure to read the Prologue at the beginning and the Epilogue at the ending of each book.

There is an overall "cozy" aspect to these stories because the main character, Emma Frost, divorced journalist and budding writer, inherits her grandmother's old mansion on Fanoe Island in the North Sea (part of Denmark). She moves in from the mainland with her two children and soon meets chummy islanders and neighbors, including Sophia from across the street who becomes a good friend. Lots of tea and coffee hospitality flow in the lovely, comfortable rooms and old time charm of the mansion. Emma is always cooking and baking for others (even later takes them in to protect them!).

Things get complicated as more unspeakable serial murders occur on the island. Before long, Emma discovers that her own Grandmother was an earlier victim; the reason why is startling! Emma decides to write a book about these island murders which puts her into the midst of the police investigations. In addition, Emma's son, Victor, who is mildly autistic, soon demonstrates some mystery-related ESP abilities that escalate over the three novels.

And all three well worth reading.
Itsy Bitsy Spider starts it all, bringing Emma to the island, along with her family, immediate as well as extended. Murders of the island's patriarchs, at least those basically running the old church, are plaguing the island. Then the preacher also ends up murdered in the same manner. And somehow it all seems to come back to Emma's old house, where she moved after her grandmother willed it to her; somehow, Emma's family was in the middle of it all. But how???
For greater synopsis, read the summary for the individual book; I have found that reading several reviews usually tells the whole book, thus my reviews tend to give impressions of the story, rather than details.
And this was one story where I had no clue regarding who the murderer actually was until it was disclosed by the author. I cannot tell you how rare (and exciting) that is for me!
Itsy Bitsy Spider has children going missing, children whom the police had determined must have drowned swimming to a near offshore island, but who Emma believed may have been murdered. Beautifully developed characters made this my favorite of the 3 books; the author truly brought the reader within the heads & thoughts of all. While this did allow for early recognition of guilty individuals, it also made this my favorite of the 3. And again, Emma's family was at the center of it all, albeit in a completely different way.
Run Run as Fast as You Can was another great thriller. It is important that the reader pays strict attention to the dates at head of each chapter; not doing so will likely prove frustrating and confusing, as it did for me, having scarcely noticing them initially.

I read this series in a week. I couldn't put my kindle down. Emma Frost series is great. I am reading all of Willow Rose books. She is an awesome writer. I also read Rock a bye Baby and it tells more about the character in this series. I loved the way willow links almost all the books I have read by using characters or settings. Don't read unless you have plenty of time because these are pageturners.

I enjoyed the development of the characters and the stories. Found the characters believable, even the evil/creepy ones. If you can get around so many crimes happening on one small island, it's not a bad read. I look forward to reading more of this series.

I got one of Willow Rose's books as a free one on Kindle, and loved it so much that I've ordered almost all of her books since. I think the Emma Frost series the best.

These books are like a train wreck. Meaning they are terrible but for some reason I can't seem to look away. I have now read the first 6 books in the series. The plots in all of them are absurd. The dialogue and scenarios are unrealistic. I could give a ton of examples but do not like to include spoilers in my reviews. I will give one that is not too specific and without identifying which of the 6 it came from. In one instance Emma is sitting in a room with several known violent people and she dozes off. Really? If I was somewhere and people were getting killed and/or attacked around me I would not be "dozing off" until daybreak. The full picture is even more ludicrous than that small example. The writing itself is very stilted. I have been chalking that up to translation or English being their second language.

And yet I keep reading them... I don't know why. They truly are awful but I guess something about them is appealing.
