5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book to show children God is in their lives
The first time I read this story to my daughter (then 4), she asked that I substitute her name for Emma's - she was so thrilled to see what we do every day reflected in a book. I like the fact that this book refers to "talking to God" rather than "praying" - a much easier concept for small children to grasp and adopt. The drawings are ethereal and...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good book to open the discussion of God with your child.
This book is a great springboard for discussing the concept of God with your child. The subject of God is approached from a very general standpoint, making it appropriate reading for readers with a variety of religious backgrounds.

I like the fact that this book refers to "talking to God" rather than "praying" - a much easier concept for small children to grasp and adopt. The drawings are ethereal and loving, and the love and respect Ms. Williamson has for her daughter and all children is palpable. I can't recommend this book enough to parents of small children (and even for the parents themselves!). Barbara Seidel (Tweety513@aol.com)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!, August 8, 2005
My aunt gave this to my daughter (Emma) for her Christening when she was a few months old. We read it to her then and now that she is two she requests it every night. She LOVES it and it easily leads into an understandable discussion of God many nights. Definitely one of her favorites and ours too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good children's book about God, June 15, 2007
This review is from: Emma and Mommy Talk to God (Paperback)
"Every morning, Emma and Mommy talk to God. Thank you, God" is what they say. -From the book.
Isn't that a good way to let kids know that prayers aren't only for bedtime! And, what a great way to begin the day, -by being thankful and talking to God.

I like that this book is simple and addresses things that little ones think about. There are several situations in the story where Emma and her Mommy have the opportunity to see and discuss how God works in our lives. Emma talks with her mommy about some questions on her mind, like where did she come from, and who is God, and at night when she feels afraid in her room, she remembers what her mother told her about God being with her always and it makes her feel better. Then there's a little boy who is mean to her, and Emma seeks her mother's advice. Her mother tells her to pray for the boy and Emma sees a change in him and realizes that God did hear her prayer and that he is in the boy too. It sounds like a lot of different things going on in one story, but I think it's all woven together nicely. It's not too long and drawn out for the amount of information it covers. The illustrations and colors are nice. We'll be reading this regularly. I also like the idea another reviewer had about substituting your own child's name while reading it.

Thanks for reading my review and I hope this has helped you!
~Namaste~

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
With 3 school age girls, book reading is a daily activity in our home. 'Emma and mommy' is the most requested book with my 8 year old in particular. It helps my girls understand and visualize their prayers are being answered and their is a spirit realm where angels exist and assist in answering their prayers.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves it, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Emma and Mommy Talk to God (Paperback)
I found this at the library and was really glad I did. It is one of the best books for early lessons about feelings for Jesus and the role he plays in our lives. My 3 year old loves it. I love that it addresses thanking the Lord for all the wonderful gifts he gives us. It also addresses being scared at night, a bully at school, and the question 'Where did I come from Mommy?' It is the perfect bedtime book.
