Product Description

Emma looks down at the crowd from a hanging platform.

Her father was framed, and she took the blame for the crime to save him from execution. Where is her beloved husband, Nate? She looks around and sees her husband on a horse, guns blazing. In a whirlwind rescue, she hops on the back of his horse, and they’re off, realizing that they will spend the rest of their lives as outlaws.

They capture a wanted man and leave him at the doorstep of the sheriff’s office. The sheriff finds Emma and Nate and makes an interesting deal with them: they will capture the bad guys behind the scenes and allow him to take all the credit…this in turn for not being run in. For this couple, ahead lies a life of excitement and passionate love.

Tammy's Review: Emma the Outlaw by Laura Hogg is a good book. The love that Emma and Nate share is shown in various ways throughout the book. Emma the Outlaw will hold the reader with everything from love, suspense, and family loyalty.

Emma and Nate are very likable characters with a great sense of the law and family loyalty. Some of the choices made in the story line may not be the right ones, but Emma and Nate find a way to correct their mistakes.

The story lines follow closely with the western outlook from the old west. Laura Hogg has written a very good story, from the laws to the towns. The ending was finished, but with just enough of a twist that the author could write a second book. I would love to read this author again.

Rated 5 Delightful Divas by Tammy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read!!, April 7, 2010
This review is from: Emma the Outlaw (Kindle Edition)
For fans of a good western--Gunsmoke & Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman to name a few--Emma The Outlaw will not disappoint. I originally wanted to read Ms. Hogg's novel because the blurb reminisced many other beloved westerns I've read and watched over the years. Ms. Hogg's novel truly lived up to all my expectations and proved to be both an exciting and enjoyable read.

The story first introduces us to Emma, our heroine. She's a beautiful, tough and devoted daughter placed in an impossible situation. Her father is wrongly accused of murder and sentenced to hang for his crimes. Without time or options, she does the only thing she can to save her father's life.

Then enters our hero. The hot, sexy and devoted rancher, Nate, her husband. With Emma's life in the balance, Nate rides in to save his love, willingly dedicating all to her. Not to mention sharing several jalapeño hot kisses.

And all good westerns need to have atmosphere. I'm reminded of the first episode of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman when she first arrives off the stage coach. Mud is everywhere, in fact she falls in a big puddle almost right after her arrival. Emma The Outlaw may not have mud puddles, but the extensive descriptions of the town, streets, saloon, general store, and of course the lovely frontier gives the reader the lovely and desired environment of the classic western.

Emma The Outlaw begins strong and keeps the reader interested to the end. Don't miss out on this wonderful story. A+++ job.

More About the Author

Laura Hogg grew up in Colorado. She spent most of her childhood living in a large, antique house behind a mortuary. The neighborhood kids kept telling her the house was haunted. She and her sisters would trek in their uniforms to their Catholic school and make an adventure of it.

Entering adolescence, everything changed. Suddenly, she had to go to public school and became the object of bullies. Her faith and her music got her through. She joined a rock band, inspired by her musical family. Her mom was a folk singer, her uncle is a famous rock singer, her grandpa was a classical singer, and now her daughter is a musician and writer.

Shy girl behind the guitar...it was at times rather uncomfortable, but she loved the feel of that heavy metal guitar in her hands.

It wasn't until college where she studied music and modern languages that she turned to her writing seriously, doing more than just write songs. After graduation, she dared to submit work for publication. Many rejections later, she finally got a book deal, and there's a good story behind that.

Now she has short stories to full-length novels published mainly in the romance genre. Blending genres at times, her work covers historical eras, a dash of sci-fi, and the paranormal since her childhood brings such inspiration there. Time travel is a pleasure to write, and she has great fun with her Romeo vs. Juliet series.
