My five-year-old daughter, like the title character in this book, is named Emma and tends to be on the shy side. So I think it has been very fun and enjoyable for her to read this book about a shy little girl who finally has the courage to talk to the new girl who moves into her neighborhood. It's a very sweet book about how the two girls become friends...we definitely plan on reading the others in this series!

This is one of my daughter's favorite books this season. The story is very sweet about two girls becoming friends, where one is new to town and one is shy. It really emphasizes their creativity and playfulness with each other. The artwork is very pleasing and the story unfolds and then wraps up in a satisfying way.
My daughter is around three years old and we read this book 5 or 6 times. When I read it to her, she was very absorbed and would get a happy smile on her face as the girls played their various pretend games in the snow. This is the one book out of a big stack that she really protested about when we returned them to the library. I'm looking forward to reading other books by the same writer and artist. |
