5.0 out of 5 stars A Great "Encyclopedia" for information!, June 3, 2009
By
If you are a practicing counselor, this book is so useful as a resource for disorders. I find it very handy when I am writing reports and when I am doubtful about a disorder. The theory is good, but the practice is fantastic!!

I would never think a person would want to read such a book for light reading or sheer enjoyment, but for a great addition to your personal research library, it is really good.

3.0 out of 5 stars EBD textbook review, March 23, 2008

This was my textbook for a class on EBD. The chapters are kinda long and took me a long time to read, but the information is great. I wouldn't even say it's hard to read, it's just a lot to digest. There is a lot of info on the theoretical models (a chapter on each) and educational applications for each. There is also a chapter each on internalizing and externalizing disorder which covers depression, anxiety, ADHD, and conduct disorder. The chapter on adolescence talks about sex, drugs, etc, transition planning and behavior strategies. The last chapter deals with youth violence, PBS, specific academic intervention (and RTI) and inclusion. Overall I'd say this is a good book, not too hard to read, with lots of good info. But if you're looking for something to just sit down and read this wouldn't be my choice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Emotional & Behavioral Disorders: Theory and Practice Review, October 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Emotional and Behavioral Disorders: Theory and Practice (Hardcover)
This book is very "dry," and it's hard to get through one chapter without yawning a few times. However, you do learn a lot. I do not recommend this book if you're reading it "just for fun!"
