Book Description

December 13, 2006
Debbie Danowski weighed in at more than 300 pounds. Years of trying every diet program imaginable left her feeling exhausted, miserable, and hopeless. By realizing the connections between food and emotions, she learned to overcome her food addiction. Now, The Emotional Eater's Book of Inspiration offers the tips that helped her lose more than 160 pounds — and keep them off for the past seventeen years. One of the biggest hurdles to weight loss and continued success in food-addiction recovery is denial. The Emotional Eater's Book of Inspiration helps you confront your own "fat lies" by providing 90 essential truths, such as: · You won't lose one ounce of weight by talking about it. · Dieting is not a competitive sport. · Cleaning your plate will not feed one starving child. · "Free" foods are too expensive. Touching on common challenges faced by everyone who's wrestled with emotional eating and food addiction, Debbie Danowski empowers you to manage your emotional connections to food, giving you the tools to achieve long-term success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Debbie, December 17, 2006
By
This review is from: The Emotional Eater's Book of Inspiration: 90 Truths You Need to Know to Overcome Your Food Addiction (Paperback)
I am a big, big fan of Debbie and her books. This author's books have been instrumental in changing my life.

I have read each one over and over again and each time, I get something new out of it.

The Emotional Eater's Book of Inspiration is unique in that it tackles many of the "myths" that the dieting and non-dieting worlds have "put out there".

One of the biggest problems with emotional eating is the games and the denial that the disease plays with us. This book cuts right through all of that and gives us an honest and sometimes hard look at our realities.

I am on my third reading of this book. I bring it along with me, along with Debbie's Overeaters Journal, and refer to is often during the day.

This author has been there - while she is a PHD, she has also lived the private h ---- that is compulsive overeating and her sympathy, love and understanding shines through.

If you feel you may have a problem with food or know that you do, buy yourself the best Christmas gift - buy this book. Then, sit down and slowly read it. Once you have done that, go back and read all of Debbie's other books - they will change your life! Thank you Debbie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Platitudes..., February 2, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Emotional Eater's Book of Inspiration: 90 Truths You Need to Know to Overcome Your Food Addiction (Paperback)
After reading previous reviews, I was hoping that this book would contain some inspiration that would encourage me to look to at the cause of overeating, and perhaps some exercises to help those of us who are overweight delve into why we do what we do. Instead, I got a book full of platitudes like "Real women come in all shapes and sizes, not just 2 and 4" and "The space in front of the refrigerator is a no parking zone". No kidding - these are two of the actual "truths you need to know to overcome food addiction". Give me a break.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful little GEM of a book & soooooooo HELPFUL!, May 4, 2008

This review is from: The Emotional Eater's Book of Inspiration: 90 Truths You Need to Know to Overcome Your Food Addiction (Paperback)
This is one of those books you keep picking up and wanting to read. There are so many weight loss related books to choose, and believe me, I think I have half of them if not more....but you know you've found a Gem when you keep referring to it often while most of the others collect dust. If you're an emotional eater and just someone looking for some support as you journey towards a healthier lifestyle, you really NEED THIS BOOK. Plus its small, you can take it anywhere but for a smaller sized book its PACKED with some of the best inspirational pages you'll find! I've been on many weight loss programs (finally stayed with Jenny Craig, the BEST there is!) and now with the help of books like this one, I know I'll finally get to where I have always wanted to be in life. Thank you so much for this book Debbie! I only hope more people will 'browse' around more on amazon and pick it up like I did! Well worth every cent!!!
