Helps You to Gain a Scriptural Perspective of Your Emotions,
By
This review is from: Emotional Fitness: Developing a Wholesome Heart (Developing a Wholesome Heart) (Paperback)
"Emotional health is perhaps the main determining factor in whether or not you are happy in life," we're told on page 2. This book's authors set as their objective the goal of helping people approach their own emotions in a healthy way, as well as how to handle the emotions of other people. Not only is the material highly interactive, it also presents readers with practical ways of applying the content immediately. Starting with the section on empahty, we're clearly instructed on how to approach people who are experiencing moments of high emotion themselves.
As the theme is developed, we realize that we possess myriad negative emotions already. Realistically this issue is addressed in a straightforward manner. The process of overcoming this build-up is explained. Dealing with anger in a positive rather than destructive way is one example of how the subject is covered. Relatedly, forgiveness is discussed in that same section of the book. One weakness of the book is the way singles are handled. For example, the authors talk about the need for touch, but they don't really provide a realistic way that singles can expect this need to be met. Overall the book helps you to becoming more literate in managing your emotions in a Christian way.
