Solid informational book, fascinating,
This review is from: Emotional Freedom: Techniques for dealing with emotional and physical distress (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
Don't let the small size of this book fool you. It gives a detailed description of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and how to use them to gain control over emotional problems such as fear, anxiety and addiction (as well as most others). That's a pretty tall order for any book to try to fill and especially so when so many different fields of psychology and self-help can't seem to agree on how to deal with emotional problems. It seems that a therapy that works for one person does not work for another person. So, how does this book try to fill the order of a simple system that anyone can learn and apply to help with any emotional problem? It does it by pointing out that emotional problems create certain definite changes in the body that can be treated with accupressure. So, the author takes you on a tour of accupressure points and techniques that change your body's reaction to the emotional stimulus and in doing so take the power away from uncontrolled emotional reaction. The EFT techniques allow the user to treat themselves with a system that can be done quickly and privately at any time and in pretty much any situation. Working from the smaller problems, in order to gain experience and confidence, to the larger ones the techniques are detailed and include a troubleshooting section to help determine what to do when things are not progressing the way they should. Well written, organized, easy to understand and easy to implement, it is a fascinating read. Recommended for those wrestling with gaining control over emotional issues.

Assistance with Weight Loss,
By Stephanie Macleod (Vernon, British Columbia, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotional Freedom (Paperback)
When I was pregnant with my son in 1981, I gained 105 pounds in the last trimester. The birth was horrendous and I had a number of traumas from which to heal.I didn't bother much about weight loss over the years, because most of the diets I knew about involved being hungry, or eating in a way that I didn't like. I was also too busy to bother. None of this stopped me from feeling the usual loss of self-esteem and self-hatred that most overweight people feel in our culture. In 1991, I had seen a psychologist who helped to heal the birth traumas to the point where I was able to start exercising regulary and feeling better about myself, but I still did not tackle the extra weight through diet. When I got a copy of "Emotional Freedom" in 1999, I decided that my weight might be an issue that the technique would help with since I knew it did not represent a serious trauma, and Dr. Flint warns about starting with serious issues in the book. As per his instructions, I sorted through the emotions attached to my weight and decided to see what would happen if I worked on my anger, which I felt might be blocking me from action. I tapped on all the areas indicated, in the order indicated, and went to sleep. The next day when I woke up, I remembered a diet which I had used years ago as a teenager to lose weight which I had gained on birth control piils. I decided to give that diet a whirl and lost 40 pounds in 5 months. I did not need to use Dr. Flint's methods to deal with anything else in this area, but was amazed at how easy it was, after not thinking about diets or weight loss for years, to move on with my life and start losing weight. My feelings about myself became far more accepting and less negative. I have since had occasion to use the techniques to deal with anxiety and grief and find them very helpful. Sometimes it seems to work directly on my feelings, and at other times it seems to remind me of solutions which have worked in the past. I am very happy to have this book, and very grateful to Dr. Flint.

Concise, Effective and "To the Point"!,
By Henry "henrynelson" (Teaneck, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotional Freedom (Paperback)
I enjoyed the book, Emotional Freedom. I found it to be a very informative, practical and concise work on EFT. I might add that I purchased 2 or 3 other very good books on the same topic and this one is the one that I chose to keep and utilize. It is a very handy resource!

This is IT!,

This review is from: Emotional Freedom: Techniques for dealing with emotional and physical distress (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
This book is full of good added material on the subject of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). I give it only 4 stars because I feel that everyone who really wants to learn the correct way to apply EFT will need to order the DVDs from Gary Craig's (the inventor) website, and read his free manual. Seeing is believing, in this case. But, reading this book is very useful for those who wish to be quickly introduced to EFT, which is how I did it. I strongly recommend searching out videos on top of this, though. EFT is the real deal. These tapping techniques consist of tapping with your fingers on certain accupressure points on your face and body that are called, "energy meridians." The main theme of EFT is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. The theory claims that if you were "tuned into" your negative emotion with your thoughts, tapped on all the meridians, you would be able to remove the disruption(s) from your energy system, thus curing you of the distress. It's weird, but it works! It sounds too good to be true, but it IS true nonetheless. I've been able to put a few fears and other negative emotions behind me, and I feel I have more freedom. I'm only getting started and I can't wait to see what's at the end of the "rainbow..."

Educating the Client,

I am a personal growth counselor and certified traumatologist and I use Energy Therapy in my private practice. Dr. Flint's book has been a wonderful teaching tool and introduction to Energy Therapy for my clients. I would recommend "Emotional Freedom" as an adjunct to any therapy or counseling program. The simple explanations and language in this book also provide a clear and effective method for self help. Thank you Dr. Flint for making your book available to us and at a price clients can readily afford.

Emotional freedom,
By The Tome Raider (Kent , U. K.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotional Freedom: Techniques for dealing with emotional and physical distress (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
This little book is a 'how to ...' manual to help people who have aches and pains or an emotional problem which they feel is intruding too much into their lives, like a fear of hights. It is very easy to read and gives a very good description of the do-it-yourself 'tapping' technique which is very similar to acupuncture. If there is one thing wrong with the book, it is that the technique is described in a way which so simple to follow and easy to do, that you feel that it can't work. Don't worry, it does. The book does exactly the same job as a classy one-day seminar, but for a lot less money. If you want to get rid of an ache or a worry, then this is the book for you!

too short to be useful,
This review is from: Emotional Freedom: Techniques for dealing with emotional and physical distress (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
Along with "The Secret," tapping energy meridians are useful tools for reaching emotional balance. But this book is too short to really explain the technique; it is concurrently too short and too redundant. Gallo's "Energy Tapping" is more helpful with specific guidelines for handling specific issues.
