Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
First popularized by Daniel Goleman in his book Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ, the concept of emotional intelligence is now widely accepted, not only within the psychological arena, but also, ever-increasingly, within the business world. In The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book, authors Bradberry and Greaves outline techniques anyone can use to achieve goals in an easier and more fulfilling way, improve relationships, enhance health, and become more accomplished in the work force. Starting with a discussion on what emotional intelligence (EQ, for short) is and how it impacts our lives, Bardberry and Greaves then provide readers with instructions for determining their own EQ via the book’s companion Web site (the passcode for doing so can be found on the inside of the book’s dust jacket). They also provide a variety of ways readers can increase their EQ and put it to use in their personal and professional lives. Based on research with more than 500,000 people, The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book is exactly that, a quick and easy-to-read resource that empowers readers to master their EQ and more effectively incorporate it into all aspects of their daily lives. Larry Trivieri Jr.

Review
"Research shows convincingly that EQ is more important than IQ in almost every role and many times more important in leadership roles. This finding is accentuated as we move from the control philosophy of the industrial age to an empowering release philosophy of the knowledge worker age. Self-awareness, self-motivation, and regulation are foundational to empathy and social skills. This book gives abundant, practical findings and insights with emphasis on how to develop EQ."

-- Dr. Stephen R. Covey, author, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness

"All sentient beings possess awareness, but among them human beings possess great intelligence. Subject to a constant stream of positive and negative thoughts and emotions, what distinguishes us as human beings is that we are capable of positive change. The Emotional Intelligence Quickbook succinctly explains how to deal with emotions creatively and employ our intelligence in a beneficial way."

-- the Dalai Lama

"If you're wondering why your career is stalled or plateaued -- or if you simply want to get on the fast track to the next level -- this book is a must-read...."

4.0 out of 5 stars Managers & above: please read!, September 9, 2005
If you don't know the difference between your I.Q. and your E.Q. and how much it matters in the workplace, then read this book--especially if you're a supervisor, manager, director or CEO. There's even an on-line test to see how you rate.
Run--don't walk--and get this book. Better yet: order it right now on Amazon :-) (Your employees will thank you!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous read, May 5, 2005
By Scott Alper (Washington) - See all my reviews
This is the most thought-provoking book I've read in a long time. Without being simplistic, it introduced me to so many interesting things I could use to my benefit. Being intellectually smart is surely a strong advantage in our society, but it doesn't say nearly as much as your control and awareness over your own emotions. Have you ever wondered why you have emotions, how your brain works to process them, and how you can use them to your own advantage? I've never read a book that so clearly explains how it all works and what to do with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good find, July 5, 2005
I first read about this book in a Newsweek article and it's intriguing. Quite frankly, I normally am bored by these kind of books but I couldn't put this one down. The authors tested more than 500,000 people and they turn the findings into practical strategies anyone can pick up and use. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to be the best they can be.
