5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This book is great. In a concise, well-written manner, the authors provide insight into human interaction and emotional self-development. This guide will help you understand the thoughts and actions of you and those around you; as well as help you to become a better, happier (and potentially more wealthy) person. As President of a software development firm, this book...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing given the ratings and reviews
I bought this book for four reasons: 1. Rave reviews here, 2. Intro by Patrick Lencioni, 3. Review by Dalai Lama, and 4. that the work is based on lots of research.

While I agree that the book is easy to read, I did not experience much substance in the book, and I think it only provided a very basic introduction to Emotional Intelligence. Given all the...

This book is great. In a concise, well-written manner, the authors provide insight into human interaction and emotional self-development. This guide will help you understand the thoughts and actions of you and those around you; as well as help you to become a better, happier (and potentially more wealthy) person. As President of a software development firm, this book really enlightened me in regards to how I interact with my employees and how everyone in my firm interacts with our customers. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for self-development, or as an employee resource for any industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great and needed, July 29, 2004
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
Being intellectually smart is surely a strong advantage in our society, but it doesn't say nearly as much as your control and awareness over your own emotions. Have you ever wondered why you have emotions, how your brain works to process them, and how you can use them to your own advantage? I've never read a book that so clearly explains how it all works and what to do with it. This book offers an enormous variety of invaluable, fact-based information which is sure to help you with your relationships, your family, your career, and most important, knowing yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely, December 24, 2003

This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
This book is just great. I think it will end up being a bestseller once the word gets out.

Regarding the content of the book, I agree with the authors that EI has been more important than my IQ. I always thought that because I was considered extremely intelligent that I should be able to control something that was fact; not fully realizing the emotional side of the situation.

I rate this book a 5, because I enjoyed it and learned something. It's had a real impact upon my life at work and at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learned a lot, June 7, 2004
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
Nice book. Probably the biggest "aha" was how important emotions are to our behavior everyday and how we can use them productively to influenc our success. Not that I ever really felt out of control, but I feel more in control after reading this interesting book. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much to learn!, July 12, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
Emotional intelligence is such an interesting and powerful way to think about our own behavior and what makes us tick. I learned a ton from this book and the free online EQ test was a real bonus. It also had some movies with the test to teach emotional intelligence that were awesome! A+

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knowledge at Your Fingertips, January 10, 2004
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
This fast book is packed with knowledge and I noticed it shipped much faster than what I was told. I learned about the traits that predict more than half of our success in life. Skills like self-awareness and self-management can be learned by us even into adulthood. How refreshing! The authors make the case that we can apply these skills in marriage, business and life in general. This book is at its best in making the general case for EI by providing a sound biological underpinning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, July 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
As you read the book, you realize (again!)how simple you can turn truly important things when you master something, as the authors do in this easy reading book. A lot of people will be shocked by the facts that appear in the book.....a lot of mediocre people. This is a "level 5 must read" masterpiece for everyone who wants to try his best, in any discipline (I'm an Orthopaedic Surgeon myself).

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening, May 9, 2004
By
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
This book is wonderful. The authors described all the different ways in which human beings express unique aspects of emotional intelligence. They makes a strong case that overall emotional intelligence is more important than IQ regarding reaching overall happiness and success in life. There were a lot of "a-ha's" for me in this book that have had a profound impact on how I live my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps with my diet, July 30, 2004
This review is from: Emotional Intelligence Quickbook (Hardcover)
I bought the book to help with my diet because I've noticed that my emotions and what I do with them has a big effect upon when I eat and what I eat. Emotional intelligence was extremely helpful in understanding what to do with my feelings on the rough days, and is making the diet go much better. I thought the online emotional intelligence test that came with the book is neat.
