5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Helpful!, March 13, 2005
By
S. Noonan (Encinitas CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
This little book packs more tools for happiness, success and fulfillment than my entire bookshelf of motivational, business management, leadership success and various other "how to" books!

Every time I use this simple-to-learn method for exploring the feelings I or others don't like having, I am absolutely amazed at how quickly I learn about some limiting thought process that is driving unwanted emotional reactions. This awareness has been absolutely liberating. The hardest part is remembering to use the tools.

Mandy Evans writes with clarity, respect, and loving acceptance of our human emotions. Emotional Options has taught me to look more deeply at what I and others truely want. I now understand the real power of our desires and the influence of our beliefs.

I love how universal the tools are. I have used them in all areas of my life - both professional and personal. The tools have helped to resolve staff conflicts, assist with difficult management decisions, and support prospects move more effectively through a decision and buying process. In my personal life, I have helped myself and others deal with feelings about death, dying, divorse, depression, anger, and frustration. A few simple questions offered with an accepting attitude create such empowering poise that people keep asking - how did you do that? Then I tell them about Emotional Options.

If you want a practical book that can truly be life-changing, you must read Emotional Options.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Big Help, March 14, 2005

This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
I had a problem that was nagging me for quite a few years - not enough to really change my life or mess me up but bothersome. It was because a close friend of many years betrayed me. Another friend knew the story and knew I was troubled and gave me this book, "Emotional Options" by Mandy Evans. I am not too enthusiastic about psychoanalysis or touchy-feely type meetings, etc. I understand other people seeking this kind of help but it's not for me. My attitude has always been "That's life, it's over, I'll put it behind me and move on." To my surprise, this book was a tremendous help to me. It enabled me in the sense that I could see that I had options in dealing with the hurt and disappointment and, most importantly, that I had set this up, that I was partly responsible for allowing it to happen. The realization that I was partially at fault in the situation allows me to forgive myself and approach new projects more effectively. Thanks to Ms. Evans I am most assuredly a happier person.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most valuable little book, March 5, 2005
This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
Mandy Evans writes with great clarity, simplicity and compassion to bring home to the reader a depth of understanding of how we unconciously carry self defeating beliefs and how they inhibit our ability to create happiness in our lives; and even better, she offers a simple practical method for recognizing and transforming these beliefs so that we can grow in our ability to be happier and more effective in our life now. Not an advice book or a better belief system, but instead, a means for finding in ourselves what really works best for us ...and that really is its greatest power. After using this method for 2 plus years I have found it to be empowering and transformative, and I really love Mandy's wonderful simplicity of expression.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best In Show, September 4, 2005
This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
Simple. Fun. To the point. Entertaining. And, most of all, gets the job done. The job of knowing what to do in all those crappy situations and how to go for and really get what you want. Oh yes! If I had to choose only one of the millions of self help handbooks out there, I'd choose this one. I'd take it home and use it. Self-enpowering. Heart-opening. Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breakthrough book!, March 3, 2005
This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
Mandy Evans has been teaching about emotions and beliefs for over 30 years. This expanded version of her 1989 edition is rich in detail and brilliance. The Option Method stands out for its simplicity and power to produce results in a relatively short amount of time. There may be other books that explain how our patterns affect our happiness and activities in life, but this handbook is unique because you'll learn how to actually uncover the hidden blocks(limiting beliefs) and then dissolve them in order to enhance your happiness and peace. This is a breakthrough book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth and Acceptance, October 13, 2008

Carol Mansell "CMHobson" (Los Angeles, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
I was seeking a personal peace, which would make me feel better just about being. I've been to therapy, tried anti-depreeants, and looked to various diets as possible solutions to my personal despair. My mind is a broken record, reminding me how inferior I am and replaying scenes fom the past to prove it to me. It's constant and I didn't know how to take control and stop it. I was criticizing myself for being this way, which only made the thoughts louder and stronger. Ms Evans helped me to simplify the chaos and to find my truth and to take a deep breath and to feel some of the peace and happiness I was missing. Acceptance was the key to finding the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars New and Improved!, March 1, 2005

This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
I loved the original edition of this book so much that I wrote a review of it for a magazine. But I must say that this new second edition greatly improves on the original. The new chapter, "Why the Options are Emotional", is particularly useful because it explains the idea of emotional choice in a way that anyone can understand. As I've often struggled with how to communicate the notion of emotional options to friends and colleagues, I really appreciate this addition to the book.

I'd encourage even people who read the first edition, and especially those who want to give this book to friends, to buy this expanded version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and powerful, February 25, 2005

This review is from: Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness (Paperback)
If you are looking for more happiness and emotional freedom, this is your book. Since I work in this field, I have read hundreds of self-help books and this one is on my top 10 list. Probably the best manual for the Option Method around. "Emotional Options' is not philosophy nor theory but a hands-on, workable guide that will help you from day 1. It allowed me to resolve issues that other methods couldn't even touch. It is gentle, compassionate, yet very effective. A real gem.
