This CD is the 1994 Virgin Records limited edition digitally remastered version. The original album packaging is reproduced in a mini LP cover, which comes in a clear plastic slipcase. Catalog 7243-8-39501-2-6. There is a crack on the inside hole of the disc, but it does not affect play.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM, WITH SONGS LIKE (SHE'S SO COLD AND (EMOTIONAL RESCUE)WITH A GREAT DISCO ROCK SOUND AND THE BLUESY (DOWN IN THE HOLE) NEXT TO TATTOO YOU, THIS IS THERE BEST.

Emotional Rescue was originally released June 24, 1980, it went to #1 in both the UK & US. The album includes the single hits Emotional Rescue and She's So Cold. Most people know the music, so in my reviews I try to give you data on the sessions and interesting facts connected with the songs and the album. Here we go:

Interesting notes include:
.....the vinyl album was released with a large color poster of images taken of the Band with a thermographic camera that imaged the body heat instead of light.....a video was also done with thermographic cameras
.....the tracks on the album were recorded while Keith started his band The New Barbarians to fulfill his drug conviction sentence in Toronto by playing a benefit for the blind, which he did with Ron Wood and the rest of the Stones, and then did a tour (which made no money because the drug expenses were so high)....John Belushi was with the Band for most of the tour
.....Band members Ronnie Wood, Mick Taylor, and Ian McLagan all released albums (with accusations that their best work had gone into their solo efforts)

The sessions for Emotional Rescue were very productive with many unreleased songs. They started in Nassau and continued in Paris with overdub and final mixing at Electric Lady Studios in NYC during Nov & Dec of 1979 and in April 1980.

I own all the albums the Rolling Stones have ever recorded, and surprisingly, "Emotional Rescue" is one of the ones I listen too most frequently. Chronologically, the album comes between their successful "Some Girls" and "Tattoo You" collections. While not as critically acclaimed as those two albums, "Emotional Rescue" provides a nice variety of music and reflects what was influencing the band at the end of the 70s when the album was recorded. There is some reggae ("Send it to Me"), Studio 54 dance culture (Dance pt. 1, Emotional Rescue), punk ("Where the Boys Go", "Summer Romance"), political themes ("Indian Girl"), and Keith Richards' sad goodbye to longtime girlfriend Anita Pallenburg ("All About You").
While the Stones may have been relaxing a bit after the success of "Some Girls", and putting a less than vigorous effort into "Emotional Rescue" (sometimes just recording tracks individually and piecing the songs together later)- they somehow pull off a rather solid album. Ron Wood proves he works well with Kieth; trading slick dabbling riffs on "Let me Go" and "She's so Cold". And the band uses new techniques such as synthesizers and vocal distortions on "Indian Girl" and "Emotional Rescue" which add more dimension to their music. All in all, if you enjoy the later day music of the Rolling Stones, this album would be worth a listen to.
