5.0 out of 5 stars Life changing, January 22, 2010

This review is from: Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear (Paperback)
This book is great! The tools really work! After doing the Healing Sounds on the first night, I slept like a baby. The next day, I read the chapter on the Inner Smile and practiced it. Immediate effects I noticed were: My body would not allow me to rush anymore. Suddenly, a whole space opened up where I can truly enjoy my morning and get to my destination unhurried. It feels unbelievably calm. What a relief! Although I am generally healthy, because of anger, stress, etc, my physical body was beginning to show signs at 53! After only 3 months after practicing this stuff, I can say, I am reversing the aging process both mentally and physically and I am very excited. I truly believe that we can all heal ourselves without having to rely on doctors for their medicine! I take no medication, not even aspirins or tylenol! Highly recommend if anyone is interested in healing themselves at some level to pick up the book and do the execise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Universal Healing Tao System, November 30, 2009
This review is from: Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear (Paperback)
Part I of Emotional Wisdom introduces the basic principles of Taoism (spirit in action) and excerpts from the Tao de Ching for understanding Taoist spiritual wisdom. This understanding is the foundation and springboard from which the author has developed energy practices to transform the negative emotions of anger, depression, and fear. And as we know by now, spiritual enlightenment does not suggest that we ought not to have such emotions, nor that they are inherently "bad" in and of themselves. However, as human development goes it seems that we have a habit of ignoring our painful emotions and stuffing them away, or being reactive instead of response-able with them. When we ignore or stuff unwanted emotions, inevitably they end up lodged in our cells, muscles, organs, and tissues, which over time creates ever-increasing physical issues and lack of well being.

Part II explains the valuable messages contained within these emotions and healthy ways to deal with them, in particular, the practice of what author Mantak Chia calls "The Six Healing Sounds" and "the Inner Smile." Parts III, IV, and V provide comprehensive step-by-step instructions and illustrations for practicing these internal energy healings and Part VI offers nutritional advice for emotional issues and natural remedies for minor ailments.

Chia has been teaching these practices, known as The Universal Healing Tao System, for forty-five years and co-author Dena Saxter has been teaching for over twenty-six years. Once learned, the practice takes only twenty minutes a day, and with consistent practice, promises to transform internal imbalances into harmony and joy. Emotional Wisdom brings the essence of ageless wisdom into twenty-first century relevance and application. For those interested in or drawn to Eastern-based philosophy and healing techniques as tools for transformation, I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars How the 6 Healing Sounds Helped Me, April 10, 2010
This review is from: Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear (Paperback)
As a performer, I turned to the Six Healing Sounds presented here by Mantak Chia and Dena Saxer to help me with stage fright and general inhibitions on stage. Learning the Six Healing Sounds and PRACTICING them lead me to a major breakthrough in my professional career. Singing a solo with orchestra in front of 2000 people downtown Los Angeles, the Sounds were a toolbox for me which kept me focused, on my feet and present and able to give a wonderful performance.

If you are already looking at this review this book is for you. The book is on emotional wisdom and is full of wisdom. Reading it was very easy and transformational at the same time. The techniques described in this book are fantastic as they are very simple but have profound effect every time I practice them. I loved the book so much, I bought two more for my friends, and they loved it too. I highly recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes me GLOW, January 23, 2010
This review is from: Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear (Paperback)
This work is truly gold and I honor the fact that this wisdom is out here for all of us to learn from. TRULY Amazing. It's the best I've ever seen at explaining ideas so complex and breaking down to simple text. I feel like so much of what's out there for us to learn from is more of a feeling... it's hard to put it into words, but this book does an Excellent Job!
After completing the Six Healing Sounds regularly I began to notice a significent increase in my physical and mental well-being. My favorite part of the book is the Inner Smile.
After practicing it encompasses my whole being with a radience I can feel. Have you ever been told you are glowing? This is what it feels like. It accomplished my goals of feeling more confident less stressed.
Also, I really like the nutrition information in every chapter!

4.0 out of 5 stars Useable Tools for Self-healing and Transformation, December 6, 2009

This review is from: Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear (Paperback)
This book is practical and accessible. Using sound, arm movement, visualization and intentional smiling, the reader learns a simple but deep practice to identify, understand and release unwanted negative emotions. The book contains photographs and clear step-by-step instructions for carrying out the practices that can lead to greater ease and joy in living.

The authors are well-qualified: Mantak Chia is a Taoist Master who lives in Thailand and has taught worldwide for decades; Dena Saxer has been a teacher of Chia's Universal Healing Tao System for 26 years and has an excellent command of the written word, expressing the complex in clear, simple language.

I recommend this book highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!, March 4, 2011
This review is from: Emotional Wisdom: Daily Tools for Transforming Anger, Depression, and Fear (Paperback)
I love this book! I think it is a great place to start if you're just beginning your journey in the Tao and it offers wonderful insights to anyone who is experienced in these ancient teachings. To me it is a text book and a genuine guide to someone who is really looking to holistically improve their lives. Though I have read it cover to cover I find myself going back again and again to review the material.

Beautiful book beautifully written. This is what I'm come to expect from Mantak Chia, and I wasn't disappointed. He is one of the very few writers I've seen who doesn't live off previous successes. Every new book appears to me to be an improvement over the previous ones. If he repeats himself, this is what you would expect from someone who is trying to teach people something important. I shall be eternally grateful for his work in bringing true Taoism to the West.

Dena Saxer was a guest on my popular radio show VIRATO LIVE! [...]. Her book is a great guide to anyone who would like to grasp the essence of Taoism. Although Mantak Chia is shown as co-author, Saxer was able to bring together the rhetoric to bring clear understanding to an ancient (and still existent) way of life. I also found her to be very lucid in her interview with me.
