Practical wisdom, April 17, 2006
This review is from: Emotions and the Enneagram: Working Through Your Shadow Life Script (Paperback)
I can't imagine where the reviewer was coming from who trashed this book and referred to it as "Spilled Esotericism" and a "parlor game." Margaret Frings Keyes is a respected psychotherapist who uses the Enneagram in intelligent and therapeutic ways, yet also offers practical ideas for people in everyday life to break free of unhealthy patterns. She is certainly of the same caliber as other authors writing on the subject.

Understand Yourself and Others Better with Emotions and Enneagrams, January 17, 2010
A former colleague with whom I worked a few years ago was always citing what he was guessing was different people at the office's Enneagram, and recommended I read Margaret Frings Keyes' book on it. Part of what like so much with her approach to discussing Enneagrams is that she approaches presenting the topic in a manner where an Enneagram novice like myself could both still grasp the concepts and utilize tools of "working through you shadow life script."
Since this is an older hard to find book, I'll add the photo cover this weekend and also provide you with the table of contents since it is too old to have the publisher provide the Amazon "Look Inside." That way you will have sufficient information available to you to determine if this is a book you want to purchase via the amazon used book sellers.

Spilled Esotericism, April 9, 2002
This review is from: Emotions and the Enneagram: Working Through Your Shadow Life Script (Paperback)
The decision to allow esoteric traditions to become widely available is not in itself a mistake; sometimes the prudent choice is to hide valuable knowledge in a public place. But the consequences will usually include a merchandising of the information at the level of a parlor game by persons whose consciousness is dominated by what Eckhart called "merchant-mindedness." Those with serious interests in spirituality should consult the work of Helen Palmer, Claudio Naranjo, Oscar Ichazo, Sandra Maitri, and A. H. Almaas.
