Never Say Never,
By
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
McCann's, latest novel, Emotions will take you through a range of just that. I was angry, sad, happy and jumping for joy in the same story. The few encounters between Joi, a former actress and now housewife, and Michael, a struggling writer living in his father's shadow, turns out to be a complicated mess with life-altering effects. This story is engaging and filled with surprises. The relationships between Joi and her husband, brother and father were realistic and at times painful. I adored Mike's eye-opening relationship with Ani, his literary partner-in-crime. They made an unlikely pair but brought out the best in each other. However, I often felt like I was reading two different novels. I think Mike and Joi's stories could have stood on their own without even meeting each other. This was still a good read (as with all of McCann's work) but I felt the piece that tied Joi and Mike together was left out of the puzzle. If you are a fan of McCann's work, then I would definitely add this to your summer reading list. Reviewed by Nicole

LOVED IT,
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
Life isn't predictable and I was so happy to see neither was "Emotions". It's the story about a fading black film star name Joi who's glory has come and gone, a woman who went from starring on Broadway to playing a foster mother to a little white kid on television. It's about Joi waking up one morning and wondering if all the sacrifices she's made was worth it. Then there's Michael, a black writer, trying desperately to step from under his literary-famous dead father, of which he bears the same name. He struggles to create a novel worthy of his name and finds himself unprepared for what that battle will mean. Michael and Joi are worlds apart both in age, marital status and even states, meet. They are both looking for something and though they both think they know what that something is, they really don't know until they find it. I loved this novel for a lot of reasons: the characters were fully created and experienced all the emotions of the human spirit. It took me into the world of politics, Hollywood, and black fiction and I got see up close and personal all the games that are played out on a day to day basis. The secondary characters held just as much importance as the first and what I expected to happen, didn't, which is just how life often works. "Emotions" was a refreshing break from the run of the mill stories out there and I look forward to more from this author.

From Author Timmothy B. McCann... Thank You From The Heart,
By A Customer
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
How Do You Say Good Bye To A Friend? For seven years I have written professionally and for seven years you have shared with me your likes, and dislikes about my words. Sometimes I was able to move you... some times I was able to touch you... some times I may have even confused the hell out of you. But it was my endeavor to at all times make you think. I have written my last sentence. And when I say that's hard to type as a man who once declared "I write for the same reason I breathe," it's true. Why? The industry is changing and I have not willfully changed with it. While reviewing a contract for a 5th and 6th novel, it became apparent to me that if I signed it-I would be signing away apart of my soul and if you have read me you know I would never do such a thing. When I wrote UNTIL... it was written from the heart. It was a story I wanted to hear so I wrote it and the same holds true from each subsequent novel. No, everyone did not love my work... but then again every one does not even love the Bible so this I understand. But for the readers out there who felt cut off when the site was closed down. For the readers out there we felt shunned when they could no longer e mail me their thoughts. For the fellow novelist out there that felt I walked away from friendships, I apologize. Please charge it to my head and not my heart because you will never know how much it means to look at AMAZON and see a note posted by readers from all over the world. To my author friends I felt like a divorced spouse... who's friends all are married. I trust you will understand. Remember how you felt when you found out there was no Santa? That's how I felt when I decided to move forward in my life. I mean... my 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9th novels were outlined. I wanted to tell you these stories and I now I will only have them in the attic for my kids to read. Speaking of kids. They are now 12 and 13 and as a single dad my days are numbered so I decided that it was time to enjoy the moments I still have with them. In closing my first novel posed the question, "have you ever seen someone for the first time and just knew how much you missed them?" After writing this letter to you... after a seven year love affair, after having my heart broken by conditions beyond my control, after apart of me having drawn its last breath, I now understand.... Until... Timm

Another Bestseller by a True Storyteller!!!!,
By Mary Monroe (Author of "God Don't Like Ugly" Oakland, California) - See all my reviews

Timmothy B. McCann is one of the best storyteller's I've come across in my reading experience. He grabs you from the first page, pulls you into his web, and holds you captive until the very end. Joi Weston, The actress featured in "Emotions", has the spunk and fever of the real stars from the "noir" films I've loved all my life. As an author myself, I can relate to Michael Brockmier and the "emotions" he endures throughout his career. This book has something for everyone! Timmothy had done it again.

EMOTIONS is a keeper to read over and over and...,
By Patsy Nelson "Readin Diva" (Charlotte, North Carolina United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

If you have ever read a Timmothy McCann book, you will not be disappointed when you read EMOTIONS. This book was amazing, to say the least. It was one of the most emotional reads I have read this year and believe me I read alot. I experienced quite a few different emotions whil reading this very touching story. I laughed, cried, and prayed as the words came to life as I read. When the story ended and I wiped away the last of my tears, I wasn't ready to put the book down. I only hope that Mr. McCann is planning to write a sequel soon. Move over Eric, there's a new man in my life! I also recommend I KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW by Francis Ray

Timothy McCann Scores Big With Emotions,
By Leslie Cannon (Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
If the field of writing and publishing literary pieces was looked upon as a baseball game, then it would certainly be appropriate to say that author Timothy McCann has truly scored a home run with his latest novel, Emotions.Emotions could not have been more appropriately titled, whereas readers are destined to experience a wide range of emotions while reading McCann's latest offering. Few books have ever made me laugh one minute and cry the next. Yet Emotions did just that. One moment I was holding my side laughing, the next I was wiping tears from my eyes. McCann's gift for words is quite apparent as he weaves a story about ordinary people, yet does it in an extraordinary way. McCann allows us to see the frailness and weakness that comes with being human. We witness this as we watch the story's heroine, Joi Weston tormented with choosing between the man she married and the handsome gentleman whose recently caught her attention and allows her to experience firsthand what the old saying, "I'm married not blind or dead," means. In addition to great storytelling, Emotions is bound to go over big with readers due to its, "I can see that actually happening" type of storyline. McCann doesn't paint far-fetched scenarios, but rather scenes that easily allow readers to empathize with the characters. And it is the empathy that develops that will have readers begging Mr. McCann to bring the novel's characters back again. I would highly recommend the reading of Emotions. I am convinced that once readers read it and experience the strength of the characters, the power of love, the torture of indecision and scenes so well depicted you feel you're in the room with the characters, a re-read won't have to recommended. A re-read will be automatic, because readers will find it most difficult to part with the fascinating characters. In fact, if you'd excuse me, re-reading this fabulous novel was exactly what I was in the process of doing before deciding to share my thoughts with the public. Enjoy...I certainly am!!

Again,
By LovesToRead "Super Duper reader" (NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
Again. Another gem. Another wonderfully written, intricately woven, deeply drawn piece from the author of Until..., Always, and Forever. Emotions satisfies on every level as a work of fiction. Characters you can see, touch, and experience. A plot line, like a maze, carefully constructed, and oh so pleasant to journey through. Life, for everyone, is a quest to find out what our true purpose is. What our true calling is. Michael Brockmier II, Joi Weston, the two main characters in the novel face that very dilemma. Who they truly are. Is Brockmier just the son of a genius writer--or is he a writer himself? Is Joi Weston just an aging ex-Hollywood starlet turned doting and supportive wife? Can the two of them find the answers they seek in a forbidden romance? Board the lush prose bus and travel with them to find the answers. Explore the tragedies of their life, the eroticism of their union. Prepare yourself for the entertaining way McCann molds triumph, hurt, joy, and pain out of their lives. A deeply moving piece that will have you lost in thought long after you close the back flap. McCann has done it... again.

Blended with so many Emotions,
By Shelia Norman (Flint Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
These Emotions are not for the faint of heart at all. The reason I write this is becasue I have read two of the authors previous three previous novels and with each I saw him take his skills with the pen to another level. So when I saw this title my jaw dropped. I am not one easily moved to tears nor am I one apt to busrt out laughing while reading a passage in public. I ended up doing that with both of his previous works and I can assure you the EMOTIONS were as strong as ever in this appropriately named novel.Mr. McCann is a great story teller in the traditional since. That is a given. He can write lines that are as smooth as silk that too as a given. But what amazes me and what sets him apart from many other authors is his ability to weave in a message with out beating you over the head with it. What I also loved about this novel was the fact that the ending was mixed with a little hope--a little spirituality and a lot of EMOTIONS. I wanted to read fast to see what would happen and then I found myself slowing down just so I could savor each page. Thank you Mr. McCann for giving us one of the best novels I have read in years. You make me weep. You make me smile, you make me feel so many Emotions.

Emotions by Timothy McCann,
By Vivian D Hardin (chesterfield, va United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Emotions (Hardcover)
I read the book in one day. couldn't put it down. felt the characters were well portrayed. Could really relate to the story. You felt the intensity and the pain and the joy as it unfolded to develop the relationships that existed. You really felt like you knew the characters and related to everyday experiences. Everyone has been caught up in some type of drama and it isn't about blame or fault but how you deal with it. It made it appear as if it was a kaleidoscope of the heart. I have read all of this authors books and can't wait until the next one. Great book. Recommending it to all my friends.
