As Good As Dont Say No...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Emotions in Motion (Audio CD)
This is the follow up to Dont Say No, Billy Squier's huge breakthrough album. Its a mystery as to why it is currently out of print, as it is as enjoyable as Dont Say No. This album was co produced by Mack with Billy Squire, and Mack was responsible for helping Queen on their albums, The Game and Hot Space. Its as valid a work as any follow up and still holds up 20 years later. Cover art was created by Andy Warhol and the image rights may be holding up a reissue. Used copies are out there, so dont despair!

I love Billy Squier,

I can remember proudly displaying my "I love Billy Squier" pin at school on my jean jacket, and all I have to say 20 years later is where the heck is that pin? Back then, I thought Billy Squier was sexy with his long hair and tight jeans, and not only was he beautiful, but he could rock out!! Sure, he has cut his hair, gotten older, and is now wearing glasses, but this album STILL rocks. The album title song, 'Emotions in Motion', the rock anthem, "Everybody Wants you", and the more subtle hit, "She's a runner" all pack in wallop of a punch in the rock and roll ring. For those fans of 80's hard rock, this is one of the defining albums by one of the most talented musicians of the time. Billy has a great voice, great range, and is also a great guitar player. And even in the early 90's could still wail. I had the great priviledge to see him in concert on the Rock it tonight tour. One of my favorite musicians of all time has written, lyrically and musically. Even though a lot of the songs sound very much alike, I still really like this record. It epitomizes the music of that unforgettable decade -- the 80's. I still listen to a lot of 80's albums now and this is among my favorites. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Billy Squier's first album, "Tale of the Tape" was largely overlooked although there are actually several gems on there. His second album, "Don't Say No" rocketed him into the limelight, with at least four of its songs seeing significant airplay and even today they are instantly recognizable. That album would have been almost impossible to follow, but "Emotions in Motion" did not disappoint. The lead track "Everybody Wants You" got almost all of the airplay, but several other tracks were also radio staples for awhile.
The album is a good listen from front to back, with nary a mediocre track to be found. I hold it perhaps in higher esteem than others might, simply because it's a part of my life's soundtrack. If you like "Don't Say No", then you won't be disappointed by "Emotions in Motion".

All you have to do is listen to
"In Your Eyes" and "It Keeps You Rockin'" to know why this album is a must-have for any classic rock fan. Forget the fact it came out in the 80's. It's not stereotypical in any way, shape or form whatsoever. And Billy's voice.......in a word, Wow!

Classic rock at it's finest. Billy has a timeless voice and should still release music. I consider him as one of the best song writers. His hard rock along with melodies are original.

Great CD Reissue Of A Great Billy Squier Album,
By
This review is from: Emotions in Motion (Audio CD)
American Beat Records' reissue of Billy Squier's 1982 classic EMOTIONS IN MOTION is a great example of how everything that's old becomes new again. When I expressed interest in asking a young woman at my program in Connecticut for a dance to the poorly-mastered original version of this album (on cassette) in 1994, her staff told me to wait until this young woman got acclimated to her new surroundings first, and it turns out her counselor was right. I think the problem was that the original issue didn't use the original master tapes, which led to a somewhat tinny sound. This version's remastering, on the other hand, taken from the original masters, is warm and crisp, so get rid of your old copy ASAP and buy this version instead.
