Are you in love? sad? passionate? angry? Even before Lucio Battisti, Italians have been singing about their emotions; Battisti's songs are the best example of this. Since the 70's young Italians have sung about love with Battisti's songs. He is the first choice at parties on warm beaches of Portofino or hiding from the cold at Madonna di Campiglio. If you've just ended a relationship, and want to express Romeo and Juliette-esque feelings or you'd like to dream about life in Italy, Battisti is your choice. Although Battisti died last year, he is alive and well in Italian souls.

I love Lucio Battisti's music. His music is able to transcend boundaries of time, culture, and language. Who'd think that a 20 year-old who normally listens to R&B would be in love with a 70's Italian pop artist, but it can happen. It helps if you understand Italian, but if you don't it doesn't really matter. The music is beautiful, and the lilting melodies bring tears to my eyes, or joy to my heart (depending on the song of course).

Battisti the unconventional in his first great L.P. hit. If you are searching for a good reason to learn italian it is not really Dante. It is Battisti's music and the poetry of its songs, written by Mogol. You don't need to have been 16 in 1971 to enjoy this record and the multiple messages that conveys for all those in love, in need, wanting, suffering, having fun, in times of triumph and in failure. Battisti took Italy by storm with the magic of Emozioni, Mi ritorni in mente, Acqua Azzurra Acqua chiara, Anna and other wonderful songs that you will find in this record and he changed irrevocably the history of pop music in the land of Pavarotti. The structural musical simplicity of the songs, by modern standards, takes nothing away from this masterpiece by the shy wunderkind of italian music.
Battisti lived a life of reclusion, away from the flashes and the fuss. Maybe that is how he could preserve the inner pristine power of creation with which God endowed him.....
And if you are in a repentant state, and do not Know how to say I am sorry, then learn listening to the song titled 7,40 in this record. It has made a difference in my life.
